As a likely future graduate student myself, it is my general goal in life to continue the tradition of passing forth knowledge. Not surprisingly, I have always considered tutoring and education among the most noble of professions where both parties, student and teacher, benefit and learn. What makes me an excellent tutor? Over the course of my life I have had the good fortune of cultivating a variety and number of skill sets, some of which are academic and social in nature. While I certainly consider academic prowess important for the success of any instructor, I would say the most important skill set I have developed is that of adaptability. If a tutor can adapt him/herself to the mode and manner of thinking of another, the tutor, as well as the tutor's audience, will have especially effective and enriching transactions.

I am a graduate student working in the humanities. I can tutor a wide variety of subjects in the humanities and social sciences from the middle school to the graduate school level. I am fluent in several languages. I worked as a T.A. for a writing class at a university and have experience editing undergraduate writing. I understand the perspective of college professors and T.A.'s and can help students achieve the level of writing and analysis that professors expect from them on papers and exams. The students with whom I have worked in the past have improved their academic performance. I am adaptable and am willing to work with students to the extent possible as a tutor to help them achieve academic success.

I'm Maddie, a senior at Yale University studying biology and Latin. I've been tutoring and advising students for the past five years and find that helping students understand and master a concept is immensely gratifying for me. My specialities include tutoring languages like Spanish and Latin and STEM fields (chemistry, biology, physics). I can also help with college test prep and essay writing, as well as general college advising. As a Classics major, I'm big into the Socratic method: leading students to the answer of a problem by asking questions at each step. More often than not, they knew the answer all along!
