As a young child, I always enjoyed travelingbut seldom left the house. Instead, I journeyed to Hogwarts, Middle Earth, and other fantastic places through the pages of books. As I grew older, I wrote in countless personal journals and continued to make endless visits to the public library, dealing with the stress of school by stacking my mental bookshelf with Dickens, Shakespeare, and Hemingway. Literature and writing helped me maintain resilience during my childhood and I desired to share my passion for English with others.

When I began my undergraduate career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I was immediately able to pursue my passions. As a freshman, I joined the Flash Fiction student organization as a submissions editor, offering personal feedback to the universitys student population. I enjoyed tutoring so much that I applied to be a University Writing Fellow two years later, providing guidance to students in writing classes while also helping the professor craft assignments. When I graduated with a double major in English and Journalism, I knew that I wanted to continue down this path of mentorship. During my post-graduate transition, I took up a job as the Assistant Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Writing Center, where I further honed my tutoring skills while working with a wide range of students and staff.

As a tutor, I am understanding and patientI know that the tutees feedback is sometimes more important than my own, so I make sure to leave room for those valuable conversations between us. I find that writing can sometimes be hard to reveal, so I always treat every writer with the utmost respect. I always tell writers that Im not here to tell them what they did wrong in
red inkIm here to help them express themselves in the clearest way possible. I am immensely grateful to Varsity Tutors for allowing me this opportunity, and I hope to continue my development as a mentor for all.
