You can explore the unique building on the shores of Halsey Pond when you visit Halsey Park. Tutoring review by Joe in Irvington, NY
During this session, we reviewed the nature and transformation of square root functions, absolute value functions, parabolas, word problems relating to functions, and domain/ range tables. We related domain and range to all of the different types of graphs. The student will need some more time with the material before he is comfortable; however, he does understand it. I would suggest that he approach his teacher to get some additional test prep material.

We went through his trigonometry problems. He understands the information but has issues with the word problems. I helped him understand certain terms and helped him draw it out. I helped him through most of it then gave him additional problems that he was able to get through. We also did some of the review of his virus review sheet.

Tutoring review by Jayar in Irvington, NY
Yesterday, the student started homework that she has due for next week. Her homework covered proportions, until rates, and conversion rates. She does well with proportions. I gave her tips to determine rates. I told her that usually the smaller number goes for the denominator when determining rate. Also, typically for rates, the units are distance/time such as m/s or mph. Conversion rates look like they will be a learning curve for her. Converting ft/s to mph. I told her to convert one at a time, first time and then distance to make it simple. With some more practice she will do well.

Tutoring review by Taylor in Irvington, NY
The student seems to getting more comfortable with the material. She checks her work and can usually tell when there is a mistake. She makes effective use of our time together by doing the homework ahead of time and saving the difficult problems for our sessions. Her textbook focuses on business problems, and she is getting more comfortable with the financial applications of calculus. There are always a handful of problems that require a graphing calculator or spreadsheet program creating polynomial regressions, and we are improving our skills with these tools. At the end of the session, I reviewed limits with her, which I'm probably going to do each time because they are easily forgotten when you get this far into calculus.
