Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by John in New Hampshire
The student and I went over some problems that he remembered from his recent exam; these dealt with graphing inequalities and equations containing absolute values. I reminded him of how to determine the equation of the boundary line for the graph of an inequality, and how to decide its solid or broken nature as well as which side to shade. We also covered the V shape of the absolute value equation and making a table of values in order to graph it.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Morgan in New Hampshire
The student and I went over standard deviation and z-scores tonight. We discussed how standard deviation measures the distance from the mean. We talked about to how plug data into the calculator and find the standard deviation. We also went over the formula for z-score and talked about how z-score standardizes data. The student and I also discussed how to use z-scores to discover who did better when given different sets of data. She didn't struggle with the information, she just didn't know much about it beforehand. Once we went over the concepts, she grasped them quickly and did not have much trouble. The student was fun to work with and talk to. She never complained about the material and had a positive attitude. We talked about how to use context clues and the given data to determine what needs to be done next. We also talked about how to use the calculator efficiently.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by David in New Hampshire
The student and I went over the math concepts of Integers and Absolute Value during the session. He struggled a bit understanding what integers are and determining if a number is written with a positive or negative sign. After a thorough explanation, he was able to figure it out. In addition to recognizing integers, he had to graph and show integers on a number line. I also emphasized that absolute value of integers means how many spaces the integer is from 0. He worked well.
