Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Melissa in Auburn, WA
The student and I met to go over how to balance equations and how to write chemical equations from word problems. She understood the concept of how to balance equations, and was able to complete problems that were straightforward. She had difficulty with problems that were a little more complex, where a compound broke down into three parts for example, and she just needed me to help her walk through those, and she got them after that. Writing equations from word problems was not a huge challenge for her. I recommended that she spend some time reviewing the polyatomics and their charges so that she would be more efficient and accurate at answering these types of questions.

Doing problems out of a book isn't always the best way to learn, but it provides an exhaustive litany of problem types and makes it very hard for a specific problem to sneak up on you on the test. I think there may have been a little confusion over function notation, but that was quickly corrected. We also went over even and odd functions in some detail.
