What can Milwaukee MCAT prep cover?
The MCAT test is broken down into four sections. These sections are Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. You are required to take the MCAT to get into the majority of medical schools in the United States. The test is completely computer-based. All questions on the exam will be multiple choice. We are now going to further discuss what you can expect to see while you are taking the various sections of the exam.
For the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section, you will have 59 questions you must answer in 95 minutes. In this section, you will have around 10 passage-based sets of questions to answer. In these sets, you will have anywhere from 4 to 6 questions per set. You will then have another 15 independent questions (no passage reading necessary). This section assesses your knowledge with topics in organic and inorganic chemistry, general chemistry, basic biochemistry, introductory biology, and introductory physics.
For the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, you will have 53 questions you must answer in 90 minutes. In this section, you will have around 9 passage-based sets of questions to answer. In these sets, you will have anywhere from 5 to 7 questions per set. This section will assess your knowledge of reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, analytical skills, and basic components of the text.
For the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section, you will have 59 questions you must answer in 95 minutes. In this section, you will have around 10 passage-based sets of questions to answer. In these sets, you will have anywhere from 4 to 6 questions per set. You will then have another 15 independent questions (no passage reading necessary). This section will mainly focus on biological and biochemical foundational concepts, processes that are unique to living organisms, and scientific inquiry and reasoning skills. These topics will come from organic and inorganic chemistry, general chemistry, basic biochemistry, introductory biology, and introductory physics.
For the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section, you will have 59 questions you must answer in 95 minutes. In this section, you will have around 10 passage-based sets of questions to answer. In these sets, you will have anywhere from 4 to 6 questions per set. You will then have another 15 independent questions (no passage reading necessary). This section will focus on your skills on diverse population, impact on health, mental health, and human and social issues in the field of medicine. It is also good to know how psychological, social, biological factors play a role in perception and reaction, and the relationships between social stratification. These topics will come from introductory sociology, introductory psychology, and biology.
