Math Tutoring review by Patricia in Millcreek, UT
We began work on a variety of word problems. The problems were a mix of word problems from grades 5 to 7. These problems are the kind he would see on a standard test.

Math Tutoring review by Lintrail in Millcreek, UT
We began working through the semester review during today's session. The student did a good job recalling the information from chapters 1 and 2. I explained the concepts she did not remember and demonstrated the correct notations for inequalities, intervals, and graphs. I also reminded her how to write the equation of a line parallel or perpendicular based on the given information. We will work through the second half of the semester's topics during our next session.

Math Tutoring review by Adam in Millcreek, UT
We briefly covered what an ion is and how to determine how many electrons an ion has. We also continued our coverage on quadratic equations, working on factoring them and solving them. With regards to solving quadratics, we worked on three methods: factoring, taking the square root, and completing the square. Overall, the student is still very inquisitive, and I'm confident she has a good grasp on the material.

Math Tutoring review by George in Millcreek, UT
We calculated the volume of a solid formed by revolving a curve given by parametric equations about the y axis. The student did some research and found an integral formula to use. Then we looked at polar coordinates. She got stuck on this long and complex volume problem. We will continue to work on this next session. She is a good student and understands the previous materials needed to solve the problem. My only concern is the amount of time it takes to do the problems.

Math Tutoring review by Patrick in Millcreek, UT
We checked over the student's math homework (which he had done in study hall) to find that most of the problems were incorrect. I walked him through the proper procedure for solving questions on arithmetic sequences, and helped him correct the mistakes on his homework. I continued to give him more practice problems, urging him to write out each step to avoid mistakes, until he was able to solve the problems without prompting.

Math Tutoring review by Katelynn in Millcreek, UT
We completed a review of the student's math homework. She was comfortable enough with fractions to begin her homework before I arrived. She is still a bit confused about how to draw and use fraction strips. We practiced drawing fraction strips, and she had a better understanding by the end of the session. We read two informational articles and answered reading comprehension questions. She continues to guess big words instead of sounding them out. She reads quickly, but her reading comprehension is limited when she guesses words that she does not know. We will practice using phonics strategies to read new words. We also completed a review of prime/composite numbers, factors/multiples, and number patterns. She was able to correctly identify prime/composite numbers and factors/multiples. She is still struggling to recognize number patterns, so we will continue to work on her number sense.
