It could also earn you additional scholarship offers.
However, preparing for the LSAT on your own can be a challenging thing to do. The test is comprehensive and requires a variety of different academic skills. Still, the importance of the exam means that it's crucial to have a strong test preparation process. Varsity Tutors can help with this. Consider contacting us today to begin the Albuquerque LSAT prep option of your choice. Or, keep reading for more information about this exam and how we can help you study for it.
What's tested on the LSAT?
The Law School Admissions Test or LSAT was designed to help law schools determine which of their applicants are most suited for success in the law school environment. To accomplish this goal, the test assesses many of the skills that you'll need to be successful as a law student and as a lawyer. This is done through sections that focus on Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, and Writing. Signing up for a test preparation supplement is a great way to enhance your skill set in all of these areas.
The Reading Comprehension section of the LSAT has a series of passages that you'll be tasked with reading and answering questions about. These passages may focus on a number of different things but they will all be dense and complex. This mirrors the kind of reading that law school students have to do in their classes. You may need to answer questions about the passage's purpose, the author's point of view, how new information would affect what you've read about in the passage, and more. You'll have a total of 35 minutes to complete this part of the LSAT.
Next up is the LSAT's Analytical Reasoning section. This part of the exam is also often called "Logic Games" because of the game-like nature of the questions you'll find here. You will be tasked with things like ordering a group of objects based on a set of rules that you're given. However, you'll need to infer new rules using your critical thinking and logical reasoning skill set to identify the correct order that the objects should be placed in. This style of exercise will be repeated a few times on the section but you'll only have 35 minutes to complete them all. This short time window is part of what makes Analytical Reasoning such a challenging part of the LSAT.
Third, you'll also take the Logical Reasoning section. There are actually two different sections of Logical Reasoning on the LSAT, which each have a time limit of 35 minutes. The questions that you're asked on this part of the exam will assess your ability to complete, analyze, and critically evaluate arguments. You'll read excerpts from things like magazine articles, newspapers, and advertisements. Then, you'll need to answer questions about the arguments that are made in these excerpts.
Finally, you'll conclude your day of LSAT testing with its Writing section. This part of the exam gives you a prompt that describes two opposing positions or courses of action. You'll need to pick one of these opinions or actions and then describe in the written format why your choice is the right one. This part of the LSAT isn't graded but it's a great chance to show the schools you apply to that you're a skilled writer.
What can Varsity Tutors do to help you get ready for the LSAT?
The section above discussed the challenging aspects of the LSAT and what you'll need to know before taking it. Varsity Tutors has several prep options you can sign up for that can help you prepare for these things. You can sign up for an Albuquerque LSAT prep course or work with a tutor. Both of these options can help you in different ways so it's worth taking some time to learn about them in order to find the one that works best for you.

Your class will take place through a series of live lectures that are delivered by an experienced LSAT educator. You'll learn alongside a group of peers who you can interact with throughout the duration of your course. If you have a tough time understanding one of the topics covered by your instructor, then you can sign up to work with them individually to get extra help with it. Courses come in two and four-week formats and new ones start weekly. That makes it easy to find one that can fit within your schedule.

I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
