What can Columbus LSAT prep review?
The LSAT is used by law schools to assess the main skills you will need to keep up with your courses. There are five sections: Reading Comprehension, two Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, and Writing. You will take the test on a touch screen digital tablet. It has several features, such as highlighting capability for reading sections and a built-in timer that alerts you to the last five minutes of the exam. Each section is timed for 35 minutes. Let's look at the Analytical Reasoning section first.
The Analytical Reasoning section is designed to measure your ability to analyze relationships to come to conclusions. The questions in this section are presented as sets, each accompanied by a single passage. The passages explain a scenario revolving around ordering or grouping relationships, such as prioritizing tasks. While the questions are typically unrelated to law, they serve as a parallel between the abilities necessary to solve problems related to the law.
The Reading Comprehension section focuses on complex and lengthy materials to assess your ability to gain insight while reading complicated information. In all, there are four selections of reading material, of which one set contains two related passages. The paired set measures your comparative reading skills, which ask questions about the relationships between the two texts. The remaining selections pull from a variety of subjects. In general, you will need to be prepared for dense and sophisticated pieces that offer complex rhetoric.
There are two Logical Reasoning sections, which you have a total of 70 minutes to compete. The Logical Reasoning questions measure your ability to make, assess, and evaluate an argument. You will need to be able to recognize relationships within an argument, make a comparison between patterns, identify assumptions, and more. The questions are related to a number of short arguments across a number of sources, such as magazines, newspapers, and publications.
The Writing section is delivered online on a separate testing platform. You must complete this section within a year of completing the previous sections. You will be given a writing prompt that presents a problem and two positions or actions that you must choose between and then defend. While there is no "wrong" answer, but you will need to demonstrate strong argumentative writing skills backed by reasoning, cohesion, organization, and technical abilities.
