Receive personally tailored lessons from exceptional tutors in a one-on-one setting. We help you connect with in-home and online tutoring that offers flexible scheduling and your choice of locations. Varsity Tutors helps thousands of people asking, "How do I connect with the best tutors near me?"
How can a tutor help your child master the HSPT?
If you are interested in having your child attend a private high school, they may likely be required to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). The HSPT is administered by many parochial and private high schools and it is taken by students in eighth grade.
The test is made up of five sections, which include verbal skills, reading, quantitative skills, math, and language. The verbal skills section consists of verbal classification, logic, analogies, antonyms, and synonyms. In order to perform well on the reading section, your child must be skilled in reading comprehension and vocabulary. The quantitative skills section involves geometric comparisons, arithmetical numbers, geometric and non-geometric comparisons, and number series. The math section is quite similar, but it also involves algebra, arithmetic, and problem solving in addition to geometry. Finally, the language section includes spelling, punctuation, and grammar. There is so much material to cover that your child may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of taking the HSPT. However, they may overcome this by connecting with a private HSPT tutor. Varsity Tutors may connect you with experienced HSPT tutors in Richmond who are experts in their field and skilled at teaching students of all levels.
