Passionate science and math tutor from elementary school math to upper level college sciences. I've been tutoring for 10 years, and I love to see my client's grow! My tutoring style encompasses learning how to implement habits that will lead us to our goals. I am a big believer in conceptual understanding, organization, repetition and applying new information in different ways (I like props and real-life examples). Please contact me with details of what you're looking for and we'll work together to achieve your goals!
My area of expertise is in undergraduate-level remedial chemistry, as well as General Chemistry I & II, and Organic Chemistry I & II. Throughout my career, I have focused on teaching undergraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds, encompassing diverse ages, life experiences, and socioeconomic circumstances. I hold two master's degrees, one in Chemistry and the other in Education, with specializations in STEM and Special Education. My undergraduate degree is in Chemistry. Currently, I serve as a faculty member at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. I have been teaching at the undergraduate level since 2001, with experience that includes both professional academic appointments and private instruction. During a six-year period when I was a stay-at-home mother, I continued to tutor students on a part-time basis. During this time, I worked privately with high school students diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, and other learning differences, as well as with gifted students, in subjects including chemistry, other sciences, and mathematics. Now that my husband has retired from the Marine Corps, he and I enjoy the time we have visiting our children and grandchildren, traveling and taking in ant new sites we can.
Tutoring is one of my passions because of the opportunities it gives me to help others and connect with people from all kinds of backgrounds. I have been tutoring for over 4 years in a wide range of subjects, with students from elementary school age to college level. Compassion and empathy are so important when it comes to learning, so true care and understanding are what I strive for in every session. I love witnessing the glow of confidence when students see how much they are capable of!
I have always been a very studious person. I promise I'm not boring, though! Throughout both high school and so far in college, students would often ask me for help in classes, whether it be helping with specific content or just with how to study for that specific class. Over time, I realized that I really liked to help people. After all, that is also one of the reasons I'm pursuing nursing. I am a current nursing student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and I have loved it so far.The subject and/or area I am typically best with is simply organization and study habits. It can be hard to figure out what study habits work for you across different subjects and to find the best way of scheduling and working with different courses. I love to help with these types of things and have lots of experience with adjusting study habits and organization based on specific courses. I also have some really fun study habits and ways of organizing that I have come up with over the years!I also, however, have a soft spot for Trigonometry and some Advanced Functions and Modeling (AFM) as well. I took Trig and AFM in high school and absolutely fell in love. I think they are super fun.Ultimately, I am here to help! It can be intimidating to face subjects or content that you find more difficult, so it's beneficial to tackle it now before you get too overwhelmed. I would be honored to help you do that.** in the comments/description, please include what topics you are currently working on for the course you need help in. That will help me be prepared prior to our first session, rather than having to organize practice material as we go. Thanks!
I am an alumna of The University of North Carolina-Wilmington and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. I am currently working towards my Masters in Elementary Education. I tutor elementary subjects and middle grades math, writing and science. I have worked with students as a teacher assistant in an elementary school and I was a reading tutor in college.I love to teach and watch students accomplish their goals. The look of 'victory' on a student's face, after solving a difficult problem, is what I look forward to as a tutor. My teaching philosophy is "learn a ton, while having fun". Learning should never be boring so I do my best to make it exciting. My favorite subject to tutor is math because there are multiple ways to do one problem. There is always a way for me to teach that one problem, to multiple students with different learning styles. In my free time, I love to cook and binge watch Netflix with my husband. Also, I enjoy painting and traveling.
I've been tutoring for four years and genuinely love helping students succeed. I'm passionate about all areas of math, but I'm especially interested in how students learn best. With over 1,500 students tutored across different platforms and in person, I've developed strategies that work for different learning styles. I look forward to working with you!
I attained my Bachelor of Arts in English at UNC Wilmington this past spring. I have a bounty of experience working with students, with a colorful background including ski instruction and lifeguarding. I tutor in all things English, from literature and writing to essay writing and revisions. My teaching embodies a simple motto: Motivation is 90% of any goal, whether self-betterment in the short or long term. By simply taking the initiative to ask something new of yourself, you ensure the inevitable realization of a greater potential. Outside of English I enjoy skiing, snowboarding, surfing, weightlifting, and experiencing new places and ways of thinking.
I have been in academics just about all of my life and I greatly enjoy the pursuit of knowledge and collaboration with others. May the learning never end!
Hello. I am a classroom English teacher whose experience teaching 9th and 11th-grade students, in addition to my work training adults, makes me uniquely qualified to tutor you to the achievement of your learning goals.
