Tutoring review by Manuel in Glen Allen, VA
Today we reviewed law of sines, law of cosine, formula for area of triangle involving sine and Hern's formula. The difficulty with today's lesson revolved around identifying when the law of sines provided zero acceptable triangles, 1 triangle and two triangles. By the time I left she felt very confident about law of sines. We also reviewed law of cosine and the difference and similarity that it has with law of sines. She has an exam coming up, so we will prepare for it.

The student and I worked on preparing for her math exam on March 6. The concepts that we covered all had to do with calculating complex probabilities. She had a very good understanding of this material. As always, it was a very productive session, and I sincerely look forward to meeting with her again soon.

Tutoring review by Jerilynn in Glen Allen, VA
The student's class took the free response practice tests during the last couple of classes and she says she was able to get at least partial credit on both the calculator and non-calculator permitted questions. There were a couple of problems that she wasn't as confident about so we went through some practice problems that were similar. We reviewed position, velocity, and acceleration functions using both an equation and a table, focusing on the types of questions that could be asked about this type of information. We also looked at differentiating an equation and finding both the general solution and a specific solution. We made sure to focus on being able to visualize or describe a situation to determine what methods we would need to use to answer the question. She was able to use both Fundamental Theorems of Calculus, the average values for integrals and derivatives, optimization, and Rolle's Theorem to answer various parts of the free response practice questions.
