If you are in the market for comprehensive Houston GRE prep, Varsity Tutors can lend a hand. The GRE, or Graduate Records Examination, is accepted by thousands of colleges and universities around the world. This exam can give you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths to potential graduate, law, or business schools. Your score can help schools determine whether you have what it takes to succeed in the courses offered. No matter where you are at in your preparation, Varsity Tutors can get you started with qualified, thorough test review that suits you.
The GRE allows you up to three hours and 45 minutes to complete it. Most parts of the world administer the exam by computer. In all, there are three sections on the GRE that aim to assess your critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving, and other skills that are critical to success at a graduate level.
What can Houston GRE prep cover?
The three sections of the GRE are Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. Overall, the exam covers a comprehensive set of academic skills and abilities that you are necessary. While the Analytical Writing section is always presented first, the remaining sections can appear in any order. In addition, there is a Research section and an Experimental section. Let's start with a look at the Analytical Writing portion of the GRE.
The Analytical Writing section consists of two tasks: one that requires you to analyze an issue and one to analyze an argument. You will have thirty minutes to work on each task. You will need strong communication and time management skills to present your responses in a clear and organized way. This section assesses your ability to support your thoughts and ideas with evidence as well.
There are two subsections in the Verbal Reasoning section with an hour in full to complete them. Each sub-section consists of 20 questions that split into three types: sentence equivalence, text completion, and reading comprehension. There is a broad range of skills these questions aim to assess, such as passage summarization, drawing conclusions and inferences from the text, and reaching conclusions from incomplete information. Some questions will focus on a single sentence while others relate to a passage.
The Quantitative Reasoning section is also split into two sub-sections, one of which allow you access to a calculator. Like Verbal Reasoning, each sub-section spans 20 questions. Questions are presented in multiple formats: quantitative comparison, numeric entry, and multiple-choice, some of which have multiple correct answers. You will need to have an understanding of algebraic, arithmetic, geometry, and data analysis concepts. This section assesses your reasoning and problem-solving skills in quantitative situations.
The Research and Experimental sections are unscored portions that serve to try out potential future questions. It is not guaranteed that you will get one or either of these sections. The Research section is identified, optional, and presented at the end of the GRE. However, the Experimental section is embedded in the Quantitative or Verbal Reasoning section without identification. It is important to treat every question on this exam sincerely.

Learning in a group can give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge with your peers, which can help students feel more prepared over time. New courses start up each week to ensure that any student can find time to participate. You can even choose between a 2-week or 4-week course.
Held entirely from a virtual platform, you and your classmates can work with an instructor who understands the challenges you face when it comes to the GRE. Your Houston GRE prep class instructor can walk you and your peers through each portion of the exam to cut down on surprises. They can explore different ways to approach the same problem, as well as demonstrate test-taking strategies that can help you manage your time more efficiently during the Quantitative Reasoning section. You can hear others ask questions you may not have considered and may even do the same for others. Classes even offer the opportunity to spend time one-on-one with your instructor to work on challenging topics.
Perhaps you feel would you benefit more from personalized test review under the guidance of a private instructor. We can connect you with a Houston GRE tutor who can get to know your individual needs to develop a custom-tailored study plan that focuses on the aspects of the test that you need. They can assess your readiness through sample tests to identify the areas in which you have the most room to grow. For example, if you find the Analytical Writing section more challenging, your instructor can work with you on the concepts and skills necessary to put your best foot forward in your responses. ...I previously taught high school for several years and also have tutoring experience in a wide variety of subject areas. At this time, I focus almost exclusively on assisting students seeking top scores on graduate admissions exams, including the GRE, GMAT and LSAT. In my free time I enjoy watching all kinds of sports, reading, playing board games, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends, family, and 4-pound Chihuahua Pinkie.... My teaching philosophy is essentially that all students have the capacity and desire to learn. Some individuals may just need individualized instruction in particular subject areas or with study skills and time management. I think that building confidence is one of the most key components to academic success, and I strive to do so with every student.

I served at the University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University as a lecturer in Mathematical Sciences department. I got my Bachelor and Master degree in Pure Mathematics and also have nine years of experience in teaching all fields of Math to college and high school students.... As an instructor, I always try to care about every single student in class. It is important for me that how each one of them is following lectures. During the lectures, I usually put myself in a student's position to make sure that the material that I am teaching is based on their knowledge. My most important tool for effective teaching is promoting an interactive environment in classroom. I usually ask questions during lecture from at least 50 percent of students, especially students who are not following the class the way that I want, and I try to ask them questions in a way that they can answer it correctly. I know that most undergraduate students take many courses in a semester and they have a lot to do during the week. So, I try to not give them so much homework, which can make them confused. Each semester, after the first meeting hearing about the strategy of the course, I make a specific calendar for each course that I'm teaching. In this calendar, I write some comments for myself in each week of the semester, and these comments are from my experiences from past semesters. It helps me to remember during the semester in each week what the important things are related to my teaching. I usually avoid proof-based materials for undergraduate students. If there is any specific point in the book that needs proof, I try to explain it out of Theorem-Proof style for students, and I have seen that they really can make connections with this method. My evaluations from previous semesters show that most of the students are glad that they can see the improvements, and they also like that I spend more than enough time for their problems.
