Finance Tutoring review by Cortland in Salt Lake City, UT
In today's session we continued our discussion on the economic growth of developing nations. After reviewing the characteristics of developing nations we looked at the three main stages of economic development (agricultural, manufacturing, and service sector stages). We then explored the role of foreign investment and foreign aid in developing countries and the obstacles to growth that come with it.

Finance Tutoring review by Elnora in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I reviewed a case related to a jewelry corporation. The purpose and activities of the assignment involved the evaluation of the break even point in sales and units for three years as well as the reevaluation of these values based upon different potential scenarios, including the removal of sales commissions, an increase in an advertising budget, and a reduction in prices coupled with an increase in sales volume. I researched and found additional supporting information for one question involving the calculation of a change in the average sales ticket price (and it appeared that one additional assumption was needed). With this resource, I also clarified the inclusion of commissions as a variable cost item. Finally, the student was able to address two general questions related to the company's strategy based upon the information calculated and given.

The majority of the session covered commercial bank t-accounts regarding deposits and lending and reserves. The student completed a portion of the homework assignment and then we briefly discussed the remaining problems and how best to find solutions. He is a patient and determined student and I believe we will work positively together and that he will obtain a better hold on the finance and financial accounting materials.

We did a final review session for the Series 6 exam that the student is taking on Thursday. He is leaps and bounds ahead of where we started out. We went over general concepts and then went a little deeper into specific questions. He was hitting about 70-80% of the material, which for Series 6 is passing. He is going to take 1 more "mastery exam" tomorrow and then test on Thursday. He was an excellent student and always had a good attitude throughout learning the material.

We worked on problems finding the present value and future values of annuities. We also worked on solving for the interest rates needed to find the future value. The student has an upcoming quiz and she understands how to apply the formulas, but struggles sometimes with interpreting and setting up the problems. Our next session will focus on this.

Finance Tutoring review by Grayson in Salt Lake City, UT
I advised the student to put together an outline for her instructor tonight. This paper does not need to be long, but it needs to have a summary at the beginning that explains who she is, who the investment is, whether the investment is wise, and why or why not. In the summary, she will also have to tell the investor that there are / are not any other interested investors. Then, she should give more detail on the company and the industry with an appendix that contains her supporting materials. Even with school papers, it is critical on something like this to define her role and the instructor's role so he understands how she wrote the paper.
