I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 2014, with a minor in Mathematics. After attaining my undergraduate degree, I went to the University of Iowa to pursue a PhD in Applied Mathematics, which I earned in 2020. Since August 2020, I have been a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Dayton. I enjoy nothing more than working with students at all levels of math. I am especially passionate about presenting a new perspective on algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and linear algebra. In my experience, students have always appreciated my patience and flexibility when approaching challenging topics. I also follow sports closely, and in my spare time I enjoy running, watching movies, and playing games with friends.

I am trained in lesson planning, instruction, assessment, and using assessment data to guide further lessons through City Year, Inc. I have used assessments and a quick review question for the last session to tell me what the student still needs help with or if we are ready to move on to something else. As a tutor with City Year, I also gained hands-on experience tutoring a diverse group of students in a variety of subjects and supported students in Algebra and Physical Science classrooms. Additionally, after school, I also started to teach one student the basics of the German language. I began tutoring college algebra and trigonometry during my sophomore year at Kansas State University because one of my math professors at the time offered that opportunity to several students in her Accelerated Calculus class. I found that I really enjoyed sharing what I had learned, helping a student see something from a different perspective or finally grasp a concept that they had struggled with.After I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I began a career in the US Air Force, first working for the Air Force Research Lab, and then working for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center as a scientific and technical intelligence analyst. I have recently retired from Procter and Gamble P&G where I served as a Research Scientist. Most of my career has been involved in synthetic chemistry pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry. Also at P&G, I worked in developing beauty care products for consumers around the world. My goal as a tutor is to bring insight and a greater breadth of understanding of the sciences to the student (client).

I am a graduate of Sinclair Community College, the University of Dayton, and Cleveland State University. I have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Sinclair Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Spanish minor from the University of Dayton, and a Master of Arts in English from Cleveland State University. Over the last decade, I have tutored numerous community college students at two community colleges in the state of Ohio. While I tutored primarily English and Spanish courses, I have tutored many courses in the Liberal Arts curriculum, including History, Political Science, and other Modern Languages. I especially enjoy tutoring anything that combines any number of these subjects together, as I am a firm believer that writing and literature are a part of culture and are a reflection of it. As a tutor, I like to help students build connection with their subject and its relevance in the wider world. Furthermore, I want to provide of how one's academic pursuits can infuse other parts of one's life.
