Tutoring review by Rachelle in Ohio
The student and I worked on multiplying fractions. Because he understood this concept, we quickly went through the entire chapter 7, which showed different methods of multiplying fractions. I left him with word problems, so he could practice translating word problems into equations. It was a good and productive lesson.

Tutoring review by Donnetta in Ohio
Today, we worked on dividing fractions and mixed numbers. The most difficult part for the student is simplifying. We completed 4 problems together and he completed the last on his own. He received his last exam and we went over the problems. The student had the most difficulty finding the constant and applying it to different values to find the correct answer. We completed 3 rows of one ratio chart and I left him with one to complete on his own. Next session, I plan to spend more time on ratios.

Student one continued fraction arithmetic plus reviews of earlier concepts. Student two learned combining like terms and variables on both sides of an equation. I would strongly suggest she practice addition/subtraction with negative numbers as that gives her the most trouble.

The student and I covered the material that would be on the next exam that he would be taking on Thursday. We looked at forces at angles and kinematics. Overall, things went well. We covered the teacher's old exams and practiced the materials.

The student and I reviewed equations, ratios, proportions, and increase/decrease percentages in preparation for his test. He was full of energy, and his personality made it easy for us to connect. He encountered a few challenges with worded problems; he didn't know how to turn the words into equations with variables. He will definitely get it with more practice. Overall, he's a really bright, engaging, and funny student. Very much looking forward to our next session!

With the student, I reviewed all the material for his geometry test. He had a good grasp, and I emphasized areas where he was weak as last minute brush up for Thursday. I helped his sister on her pre-algebra and civics assignments. She was quite independent and needed only some guidance.
