I am a recent graduate from the University of North Texas. I obtained my BA in Biology and then returned for an MA in Linguistics, along with a Graduate Certificate in TESOL. Teaching is a passion of mine, particularly teaching English as a Second Language. I have been tutoring for over three years, and have created an ESL class at a local church to help serve my community. Many students seek help from an ESL teacher for a specific reason. It could be to raise their TOEFL scores, strengthen their communication skills for their job, or for a better quality of life while living in an English speaking country. I also work as the copy editor for the student newspaper, where I actively engage with reporters on how to improve their writing both grammatically and stylistically. I acquired a passion for tutoring in high school, where I took on younger classmates as clients and tutored them for the SAT and ACT. Along with my expertise helping struggling students with Standardized Testing, I specialize in English, Reading Comprehension, and Essay Writing (another critical aspect of the college application process). Since graduation, I have been working at an Economics research firm in NYC where I am responsible for sales into various sectors (healthcare, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications). I have become very interested in healthcare, and I am now volunteering at a few hospitals in order to gain more exposure to the field. In the past, I tutored for the SAT examination in Reading, Writing, and Math. I helped my students successfully achieve their goals and get into college! In addition, during college I tutored at various middle schools in the greater College Park, MD area. Most of the students I met with needed help in Math and Writing, although I also tutored in Spanish on the side. I tutor a broad range of subjects including Math, Spanish, SAT Verbal, Grammar, Essay Editing, and Essay Writing.In my free time I enjoy exercising, cooking, and spending time with my friends.

Moreover, I love volunteering with amazing organizations like Metropolitan Ministries and Trinity Cafe. All the while, I have always maintained an A+ principal honor roll as well as a 6.0 or higher GPA. I am extremely dedicated to my work as well as helping others succeed.For many years now, I have loved tutoring because it truly gives me the opportunity to help others in the community find their confidence academically in areas where they may not feel as strong. In my job as an assistant prosecutor, I taught hundreds of police officers about changes in the law and prepared them for their tests and reviews. I have two daughters who are still in school so I am aware of the challenges of demanding homework and AP classes. Together, we can succeed!
