I'm a big Boston Celtics fan and I speak three languages. I can get you the test results you need to succeed because I went through the exams myself and performed well. The first time I took the SAT I actually wasn't satisfied with my score, so I spent 2 months working hard to get my score to where I wanted it to be. The second time I took the exam I saw a 200-point increase. Previously, I have had experience teaching the SSAT and the SAT. The student I tutored in SSAT successfully passed the exam is now attending a private high school abroad. With VarsityTutor's online learning platform, I will be able to transfer knowledge in a visual, easy-to-understand manner. I look forward to being your tutor and helping you reach your academic goals. :)

I have been tutoring students since I was a student in Middle School. I enjoy witnessing achievements of students and the AHA! moment when they have grasped a concept. There is nothing like the feeling of achievement and accomplishment. Especially when there has been an extended period of confusion or the adjustment of a small piece of a puzzle that changes everything.I am a graduate of Vassar College. I have a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree. I enjoy movies, cooking, and learning. I have traveled abroad to countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

I love words and their power! As a result, I earned a PhD in English from Northwestern University and became a writing/literature professor at University of Arizona. The most fulfilling part of my work was helping my students realize that, yes, they could write their essays and papers!--even when they had been convinced they couldn't. I ended up teaching and tutoring many different kinds of writing, so I am able to "speak" business, legal, academic, and even creative writing. It's wonderful that I can now help students via computer, and am no longer limited to just in-person work. Writing is fundamental to almost everything in life, and it's my privilege to help students develop confidence in their own writing abilities.

I am a magna cum laude undergraduate of Alvernia University, Reading, PA, with a BA in English. I am also a magna cum laude 2000 graduate of Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA, with a MA in English, where I was also a graduate assistant. I have been a professional adjunct lecturer and tutor at the college level for thirty years. I now teach solely at Alvernia University. I teach primarily in the Communication Department but have also taught Literature courses, Health Care Science writing courses, and I am now a Search Instructor (first year experience) and first-year advisor. I have professional credits at the bachelor's level in philosophy, theology, education, and addictions and mental health, holding a Behavioral Health certificate. I have master's level reading specialist professional credits and doctoral level professional credits in leadership. I also hold a teaching certificate for Pennsylvania Private Academic Schools, English, Secondary Education. I am the Faculty Advisor the Lamba Sigma Honors Society chapter at Alvernia University. I believe that students should be taught how to think, not what to think. I am one of the most popular lecturers on campus as I am known for my kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. My education has given me the skills I need to be a tutor and teacher, but it is being a mother, daughter and friend first that is the foundation of my teaching philosophy. I chose a life of serving others, and I believe that becoming the best version of yourself is the life goal that matters most.

I am a current student at Yale University pursuing a degree in English. Since I was little, writing and storytelling has been one of my biggest passions. Though back then, I often told stories to my friends and family as though they were truth, once they helped me find the page I've had much, much more success. I have been tutoring kids since I was in high school, but I've also spent many hours working with kids on the baseball diamond as a coach, as well as as a camp counselor. My philosophy is that I know how hard and difficult (and sometimes annoying) high school English and History classes can be, and my goal is to try and bring a little fun back into the material while making sure we do what it takes to master your craft as a budding young writer, whether in a rhetorical analysis of Pride and Prejudice or in your CommonApp personal essay.

I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and have spent my career writing and editing for newspapers and magazines. Through the years I realized that I enjoyed training aspiring writers and reporters on how to improve their writing skills. I live in a diverse community and felt I could use what I knew to assist others so I volunteered at a school system and began tutoring young adults as they worked toward a GED diploma. My specialties are reading, writing and grammar, but GED requirements can be broad and I gained additional experience working with the students in basic math.I emphasized organization and planning to help them improve their writing and communication skills. The students came from diverse backgrounds, but I found that they were most enthusiastic and involved with the process when they were working toward goals they had a hand in developing. In my spare time when I'm not freelance writing I'm usually enjoying the outdoors by hiking, camping, fly fishing or traveling.

I hold a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and an M.A. from Georgetown University in Arabic Studies/Middle East Studies. I'm currently working on my second masters degree in Mass Communications and Journalism at ASU's Walter Cronkite School.I would love to tutor students working on any of the following subjects: PSAT Critical Reading, PSAT Writing Skills, SAT Critical Reading, SAT Subject Test in Literature, SAT Verbal, TOEFL, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, College Essays, Essay Editing, Grammar and Mechanics, Literature, Reading, Writing, Arabic, and European History. Here's a little bit more information about my background -- I'm currently a Teaching Assistant at ASU, where I work closely with undergraduate students on improving their writing and critical thinking skills. Before coming to ASU, I taught undergraduate humanities and English literature courses. I have also served as an SAT Prep instructor for the verbal and writing sections of the SAT. I really like working with students on the verbal and writing portions of the SAT because I find that, when approached the right way, these sections of the test are a lot of fun.In terms of my teaching philosophy, I like to keep things as active as possible. I think it's important that students feel they are engaged in a dynamic process; I view tutoring much like a conversation. If students have questions, I always want to hear them. I think in tutoring, when both the student and the tutor contribute, there's a great exchange.I'm originally from the East Coast, the Philadelphia area. I lived in the Middle East for four years for my work. In my free time, I like to stay active. I love exercising. Running, hiking, and going to the gym are all great. I am a big believer that physical activity helps clear the mind and restore focus. I also love coffee and going to coffee shops.I look forward to meeting you soon for tutoring. I'm happy to answer any questions about my background and experience.

I graduated from Wingate University with a Master's in Arts for Teaching. My teaching license is for students K-6. In order to attain my license I needed to pass three difficult Pearson tests in Reading, Math and a test on mixed subjects (Science, Social Studies, etc.). I passed them all on the first try. I have worked as a Student Teacher in 3rd grade classroom for the Fall 2018 semester and have taught all the subjects included in 3rd grade curriculum. I love teaching Elementary Math because the way schools teach math now is so different from when I was a child. Schools are now implementing the use of manipulatives (like objects such as small bears, or fraction tiles), drawings, and other creative means to teach the conceptual concepts behind math. I l also have a background and a Bachelor's in Fine Arts so I really enjoy teaching math this way.I also love to teach reading and writing as well as speaking and communication skills. In my free time I love to cook and try new recipes, paint and draw, and write letters.
