I'm an Educational Studies graduate student who gets excited about helping other people learn. Between private tutoring and working at the academic writing center on my college campus, I have 2 years of tutoring experience, with 1 year of that being ADHD-specific.While working at my college's Academic Writing Center, I helped students improve their writing for class assignments, scholarship and grant applications, and the occasional cover letter and resume. My approach to writing tutoring is not about editing students' grammar; instead, I help students identify their communication goals and then teach techniques for effectively meeting those goals. In broader tutoring work, I help students develop their study skills in a way that suits their unique learning style, personality, and accommodation needs. There is no one right way to learn, so figuring out what works for you is often a process of throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. As a student with ADHD myself, I have honed my 'spaghetti throwing' process over my academic career to be systematic and reflexive. When trying a new study technique, I help students identify what about it specifically works well and where friction occurs. I then use this feedback to inform what I suggest trying next. Lather, rinse, repeat until eventually students have a toolkit full of study techniques that they can wield confidently for any assignment, paper, or test that comes their way.I would love to work with any student who wants to build their study toolkit to work with their unique learning style and educational goals.

I am a public school reading teacher in the elementary grades. I have a passion for educating young people and guiding them to academic success, either in or outside of the classroom. I have experience as a classroom teacher and a private tutor, in subjects that range from Reading and Writing to History and French. In my opinion, the path to obtaining a good education is formed by hard work, diligence, persistence, and an open mind. I work on a daily basis to instill these qualities in my students and tutees. I also believe that forming meaningful relationships with my students creates an environment in which learning is the goal. In my spare time, I enjoy running, golf, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

As a writer and English professor, helping people tap into the power of language is my passion. I have tutored students of all levels throughout my career, from high school students hoping to improve their essay writing skills to PhD candidates working on dissertations. In my own academic journey, I studied creative writing. I love bringing the sense of fun and freedom, along with many of the techniques and practices I learned in creative writing classrooms into my work with students.

I'm here to assist with any current or aspiring college students with making the grades for, getting into, and thriving at college. My tutoring experience has spanned a wide variety of students over several years: from serving as a teaching aide for high school students with special needs, to working as a teaching assistant for elementary, middle, and high school students at a gifted academic summer camp, to working as a full-time in-school tutoring fellow at an urban middle school. This is in addition to more than a decade of informal experience assisting friends and family academically as I've balanced pursuing an Ivy League undergraduate degree.Writing has been a lifelong strength of mine, and I've enjoyed taking on positions where I've helped others improve their writing. The most prominent example of this would be serving a year as a staff editor, then two more years as Editor in Chief of a widely distributed campus magazine in college. I've also assisted students with resume, college admissions, and academic essay writing.Math, mainly Algebra (but spanning up to statistics and calculus II) has also always been a strong subject for me, and the majority of my professional tutoring experience comes from a full year, full-time fellowship teaching pre-algebra and algebra I.My interest in assisting with college admissions stems from: 1) getting into an Ivy League school, 2) qualifying for scholarships (including full-ride) to universities through National Merit & National Achievement PSAT Scholarships, 3) serving as a summer teaching assistant in a College Admissions course for gifted high school students, and 4) volunteering by introducing low-income students to the college application process. My schedule currently allows me to be flexible in terms of times and locations for tutoring sessions, both in-person and online. Reach out to me for details!

I am currently a senior attending the University of Notre Dame, and I am pursuing a degree in the Program of Liberal Studies (PLS). PLS is a renowned Great Books program that aims to perfect the student's ability to think critically in a variety of disciplines, such as literature, philosophy, and history. In PLS, great emphasis is placed on formulating deep and effective arguments and presenting them clearly in a technically correct manner, both in class and through my written work. Consequently, I have had much practice writing and editing my own work as well as editing that of my classmates. I am also pursuing a minor in education and am seriously considering pursuing a career in the educational field after graduating. I am passionate about helping others learn to the fullest extent of their abilities while enjoying the subject at the same time!

As a lawyer I work with writing almost all day long, and therefore I understand both how difficult it is to write clearly and how important it is to get started early with good writing skills. In law school, I worked for two years working with my peers on both legal and academic writing. It taught me the patience and good humor needed to give students the confidence to excel as good writers. I can help students with any writing assignments including college essays. The steps for good writing are all about thinking and planning ahead no matter if you are a high school freshman or a Ph.D. candidate.I am also happy to help with American History, Government, or English Literature assignments.
