"You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself."GalileoI received my undergrad education from DePaul University. I received my Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, and I am currently working on my MBA from the University of Nebraska, with a concentration in Data Analytics.I have worked with kids as an ESL tutor, basketball coach, and writing counselor. I primarily work with those that need help with American History, English, and Social Studies. I absolutely love American history, especially the history of the formation of our government.I would describe my tutoring style by expanding on the quote at the top of my page. "You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself." I really believe the desire to learn comes from within, especially when unfamiliar topics are tied with things in the real world. I try to reinforce these connections.Outside of work and school, I love to play video games and stay active. I love lifting weights and playing basketball and try and find time to join competitive rec leagues when I can.

I am a graduate of Vassar College with a B.A. in Political Science. I put my Political Science education to use for more than a decade working in State and Local politics, first as a Communications Director for a New York State Senator and then as the Chief of Staff to the Putnam County Executive. I have also worked on many political campaigns for election and re-election. I decided to attend law school at night while working as Chief of Staff and I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pace Law School. I completed a two-year term clerking for a Federal Judge and now I prosecute criminals with the Westchester District Attorney's Office. I have also taught Criminal Justice at the New Rochelle campus of Monroe College.I found that when I began teaching at Monroe College, an institution known for pulling most of its students from the poorest neighborhoods of the Bronx, that many of my students would have benefited tremendously from a one-on-one tutoring relationship. That is what has brought me to Varsity Tutors. I feel compelled to work with students who, for whatever reason whether it be their own personal learning style or the difficulties associated with classroom teaching, cannot get the help they need in the traditional classroom. I feel that I have an incredible understanding, being a classroom teacher, of exactly what students need but are unable to obtain from a lecture setting. I am excited to develop this personal relationship with students in a setting that will help them get as much out of their education as possible. Every student is an individual and every student has individual needs. I want to assess students based on this philosophy and tailor a curriculum that suits their learning abilities and strengths. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn, they just have to figure out their unique personal style that will enable them to do so.In my spare time, I am an avid football, baseball, and hockey fan. Since I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I follow the Steelers and Penguins religiously. In my younger life, I was a professional dancer, performing in musical theater productions that toured all over the United States, and I continue to work out at the gym every day. I also love to read and have three, yes THREE, dogs who make my life very hectic but fill my home with much love.
