I am a graduate of Texas A&M University where I received my Master's in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. I also hold a Bachelors in Arts for Sociology and in Spanish. Through my graduate program, I received my teacher certification in the state of Texas for teaching Spanish Early Childhood-12 Grade, English as a Second Language, and English Language Arts and Reading 6-8. In the past, I have taught Spanish as a world language to students in grades 9 - 12. I also worked as an ESL teacher to students in grades 6 - 8 where I helped English language learners adjust to life in the United States and prepare them for success in all core academic subjects for two years. In 2021, I lived in Spain and taught English to students K-6. Since 2022 I have started teaching 8th grade English Language Arts. I have many years of experience tutoring students at the secondary level for English, Spanish, French, and various social studies subjects including Texas History, U.S. History, World History, Sociology, and Psychology.

I completed four years of undergraduate study at the University of Georgia, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean studies. That fall, after graduating in 2010, I moved to Spain where I began working in a public high school, teaching various subjects in English to Spanish students whose ages ranged from 12-18. After two years, I started teaching adults at a private academy in a nearby city in southern Spain, preparing them for official English exams from Cambridge and Trinity and tutoring private clients. In 2014 I got my Master's in Applied Linguistics from NYU. Currently, in the middle of this pandemic, I am teaching English to young Chinese students virtually. In my ten years of experience helping struggling students whose profiles vary greatly, I am a firm supporter of continuing education. It is absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I love sharing my passion for learning with my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baseball and other sports, yoga, running, listening to music and crocheting.

I have been a teacher for over 25 years. However, my experience does not hinder my enthusiasm for the learning process. I believe each individual learns when he/she feels comfortable. This allows for mistakes to become stepping stones on the way to mastery and I'm here to guide through each individual process with positive reinforcement, a dash of humor and fun interactions. My passion for learning is echoed in my teaching style. I am a life-long learner and have traveled through Europe, Asia, and Latin America. I have significantly grown through my time living in Bolivia, Italy, Nepal, and Mexico. These international posts gave me the opportunity to expand my cultural knowledge and be more open-minded. I strongly believe that we all, regardless of our age or background, continue to evolve not only academically but also in our day to day interactions with each other and with our surroundings. I enjoy reading, yoga, painting, meditating, hiking, dancing, and drawing.

From the age of 7 or 8 I have always had a lot of curiosity about other people and cultures and find hearing other people talk about themselves much more interesting than me talking about myself! Learning a foreign language and speaking it with native people, especially in their own countries is really thrilling. It opens up a side of ourselves that was previously unexplored and broadens our understanding of people outside our normal circle of family and friends. As a tutor I want to ensure that students are able to clearly articulate their goals, however practical or ambitious and ensure that they overcome any barriers achieving their stated goals. I have a BA in French and Spanish from the University of Wales in the UK with a Distinction oral proficiency in Spanish. I also have passed the French final oral (Part 1) exam at the Institute of Linguists. I am keen to help all types of students advance and accomplish their goals.
