I'm Jenna, a recent college grad currently based out of Dallas, Texas. I've been an overachieving student since I was in kindergarten, and my grades and test scores were able to secure me a full-tuition scholarship to university. As a high school student, I used Varsity Tutors to help me succeed in classes that I struggled with, and I am now excited about the chance to use this platform to assist other students!

I am a Physician Assistant in Primary cafe but have tutored for the past 9 years for students in elementary through college ages. I specialize in science courses but can do high school or earlier math, English and social science courses!

I am a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. In addition, I have graduated Northwestern University with a Master's of Science in Reproductive Science and Medicine. I have experience working as a teaching assistant in college, as well as a private tutor for for several years now. The biological sciences and human development and physiology are some of the subjects I am most passionate about learning, studying, and teaching. I also greatly enjoy Psychology, English, and other science classes as well. I am bilingual, speaking English and Russian, which has aided me in helping many students learn Spanish, as I can understand the process of learning a second language. I have experience working with students of all ages, from kindergarten though college. I used to teach figure skating to kids (both in group and one-on-one lessons) which has really helped me learn to work with kids of different ages, and how to approach different learning styles l. I think the most important part of being a tutor is being able to adapt to the different learning needs of each individual student. Everyone learns in different ways, at their own pace, and has their unique strengths and struggles, and I believe I have the ability to understand and cater to the specific needs of each student.

I am currently a PhD student in the English department at the University of Texas at Austin. I also hold a Master of Letters in Romantic and Victorian Literature from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, as well as a BA in English (Writing concentration) and a minor in business administration. Prior to pursuing my PhD, I worked as corporate communications consultant and a client manager/tutor coach for high-end tutoring firm in New York City.

I am a current Junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, double majoring in Biology and Political Science. Being in a highly competitive Biology Honors program at my University gives me the knowledge and resources I need to help my students excel. I am heavily involved in my University Government as a Student Senator representing all Life Sciences majors. I have had internships at AbbVie (a major pharmaceutical company) in addition to local (County Board), State (Governor), and federal (U.S. House) political campaigns. I am an extremely excited person in general, and so I hope some of my excitement can be shared with you while we learn! I was raised in an academically competitive environment in Fort Bend County and my rigorous secondary education prepared me for success in college. I am a fortunate member of the Terry Scholarship Foundation, which has provided me and hundreds of other Texans with a private, four-year, full-ride scholarship. As a Terry Scholar, I am well-versed in all subjects and have taken on the role of mentor to many of the incoming freshmen. I have spent most of my free time in college as a nanny and tutor to families around the DFW area. I have experience with all age groups and there is nothing that intimidates me! While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, History, Spanish, and Government/Social Studies. Through my experiences helping struggling students and peers, I have realized the value of adaptability. Most people reach out to a tutor because the traditional classroom method is not best suited for their learning needs. There is nothing more joyful than when a student finally understands the material in a way that makes sense to them. Many times, students need flexibility and patience in order to grasp a foreign concept. I am a firm believer in the power of education and I hope to share my love of learning with all of my students. After graduation I plan on returning to Houston to obtain my Master of Arts in Teaching from Rice University. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing anything from poetry to screenplays. Currently, I'm studying in a 5 year dual-degree, dual certificate program called CASE (Combined Accelerated Studies in Education) to receive a bachelor's in Applied Developmental Psychology, a master's in education, a teaching certificate in PK-4th General Education, and a teaching certificate in PK-8th Special Education. I am also a Spanish minor and completing my certificate in Children's Literature. My future plan is to become an elementary teacher. I am well-versed in biology, psychology, English/writing, reading, elementary mathematics, and ACT test prep. Most of my previous tutoring experience has been in writing/reading test prep for high school aged students.
