I am passionate about teaching because I understand greatly a lot of the academic struggles and problems students may face through education, especially as a first generation college student. Currently I am studying for my medical doctorate degree (M.D.) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I graduated UCLA with a Biology degree with Asian Languages minor in 2019, cum laude honors. Both during my undergrad and days since, I had a chance to tutor private clients in Southern California and work for a few exam prep companies. I enjoy tutoring math, sciences (chemistry, biology mainly), social sciences (history, politics), essay writing, and Japanese. I also help assist in studying for standardized exams (SAT, ACT, SAT Subject, AP, MCAT, PCAT, OAT)! My tutoring style will be very direct in trying to identify gaps in knowledge and working/practicing on those gaps. I like to be interactive and answer the students' questions directly. I strongly believe education is one path in which students may be able to reach their dreams and I will be your supporter along the way. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, practicing martial arts, and watching anime/playing games.

As a 20 yr old psychology major at my university, I am programmed to assess behavior and thoughts from children and parents alike to better cater to them. My success depends on the enabling of a child and their families to gain the most educational value from their studies and day to day activities by using them to relate and help make the comprehension process much easier. My goal is to get students to the point where they can teach someone else what they have learned therefore showing that they have a mastered a topic. Above all, with my ensuing patience, I provide an environment for them and their families to trust me to work with them until they get it. No child gets left behind!

I have always appreciated the written word - whether writing a research paper, diagramming a sentence, journaling, reading a teen novella, or analyzing Shakespeare. There is much to be learned and offered from it. Initial enjoyment turned into serious study, and I earned my Bachelor and Master degrees and became a secondary English teacher.I have had much experience in the educational arena and have worked with varying age groups, skill levels, and course work. I have instructed from the middle school level to the collegiate level. Aside from my formal teaching and tutoring, I have also had the opportunity to be a mother and teach my own children.I have a passion for both literature and writing and enjoy sharing that with others. I desire to help others enhance their learning abilities and educational experience.

Hello! I received a BA in English from San Francisco State University and I have recently relocated to the Austin area to pursue a Master's degree in Ethnomusicology. For the last year, I have been tutoring in the Washington, DC area while doing an internship with Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, the non-profit record label of the Smithsonian Institution. I find tutoring very fulfilling because with one-on-one interaction, students can take major strides towards achieving their academic goals. My main tutoring subjects are English and Writing. Often times, the biggest hurdle people have to overcome with Writing is confidence. I like to create a positive, encouraging environment, which i believe is necessary for learning. I then break composition down into its fundamental components in order to demystify the process. Once a student thoroughly understands the elements of writing, they can deliberately and elegantly construct any academic or personal essay . Outside of writing, my other main interest is music. I have played in a number of rock, jazz and pop groups and am excited to enjoy Austin's vibrant music community. Thank you for reading!

I am a recent law school graduate from Memphis School of Law in 2023. I also graduated from University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2020 with an honors degree in political science. I graduated magna cum laude.I am interested in tutoring students in ACT writing; SAT writing; legal writing; high school and college level writing classes; and some history or political science subjects. When I was in high school, I graduated top 5% of my class and took various AP, IB, and honors classes. I was a formal graduate from the IB program. I received a 34 on the ACT writing portion and a near perfect score on the SAT writing portion. After high school, I went to college and was admitted into law school with a scholarship. I was an editor on my law school's law review, which is a competitive journal only open to gifted writers. I wrote a piece of publishable quality standard and worked as an editor for a year on my law review's journal. I worked as a mentor for another student and helped her to become nationally published.I hope to primarily tutor students in writing and study skills but am open to tutoring in history and other subjects as well. I am passionate about writing and editing. I would love to help students be successful on the ACT and SAT so that they can get into college and be successful in their future careers.

I recently finished a Master's program at Johns Hopkins University. My graduate studies were interdisciplinary, combining Art History, Cultural History, and the History of Music. As an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, I studied English Language and Literature. While in school, I served as both a Guest Lecturer and a Teaching Assistant. In both instances, I taught Literature and Creative Writing. I've also taught research methods and interned in the Folger Shakespeare Library's Education Department. As a tutor, I've helped students with grammar, vocabulary, writing, critical reading, and literary analysis.Although I'm comfortable tutoring on a number of subjects, I particularly enjoy teaching English, writing, and critical reading. I like working one on one with students, helping them to think through problems, formulate opinions, and articulate their thoughts. This involves working on vocabulary, grammar, and writing mechanics. These are invaluable skills, essential for writing essays and preparing for Standardized Tests, like the SAT.Currently, besides tutoring, I'm interning in the Curatorial Departments of both the Guggenheim and the Whitney. Previously, I worked in the library of an elite graduate school. My hobbies include reading, going to museums, and cycling.

I enjoy the opportunity to work with students as individuals. Through one-to-one tutoring, I can find out the areas where a student excels and where additional help is needed. We can then work together to come up with an approach that helps the student in the most efficient way. Although I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I enjoy math the most because I like to see students mastering the steps and becoming eager to take on a new problem.I have a bachelors degree in English from the University of Illinois and a math licensure from Eureka College. In the past, I have worked with students on a variety of subjects. Usually we focused on math and science, but we also covered some English classes. Many of the students I have worked with were in high school, but I also worked with some students in junior college. When I am tutoring, I like to give students a chance to discuss what they enjoy about a subject. Once they have explained their strengths, we can focus on areas of need. That way, we are starting out with positives that we can return to, as necessary.Outside of classes, I like to go bicycling, follow most sports, and look for new and interesting sites on the Internet.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Concentration in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my final years as an undergraduate, I worked as a supplemental instructor in a Biology course for Non-Bio Majors. After graduation, I attended Texas A&M College of Dentistry, where I tutored high schoolers and undergraduates who were preparing for the Reading Comprehension section of the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). I was honored with Tutor of the Year award by the students and faculty members of that cohort. I am passionate about learning and sharing the developing notions of what it means to be human. This is what led me to teach Anatomy & Physiology to high schoolers, where I was awarded New Teacher of the Year at the school. My philosophy is to learn through teaching, reflection and meditation. Outside of the classroom I teach mindful movement as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. As a tutor, I am motivated to meet the student at their current skill level and facilitate in their pursuit of excellence.
