Hello! My name is Tsering (sear-ring) and I'm a senior in college studying Public Health. As someone who has benefited from tutoring, I am passionate about teaching subject matter that not only is personalized for a student's learning needs but also empowers them. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle and high school mathematics. Additionally, I have experience in editing/writing college essays, proofreading and with research (I have conducted research with Emory University School of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University, NIH/NIDDK and been accepted to a REU by the National Science Foundation). Upon graduation, I will be attending medical school fall of 2023.

I am a graduating senior seeking to attain a Bachelors of Arts in Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Next year I will be working at Oracle based in Burlington Massachusetts. I am also pursing a minor in Computer Science and Child Studies and Human Development. In high school I was a volunteer tutor at my middle school where I tutored students one on one in overall homework help and subjects like algebra and earth science. In college, I am apart of Tufts Tutoring where I tutor local Medford High School Students. I also have a year experience tutoring students in Physics on Varsity Tutoring. I have tutored three students in overall homework help, Spanish, and physics. Even though I have tutored students in a wide variety of subjects, my favorite subjects to tutor in are science and math. These are tough subjects for all students and subjects that I have struggled with in the past. Being able to help students like me that feel frustrated in science and math in school and in standardized testing gives me great happiness. Education and learning is so important and valuable and being able to help students through the tricky parts of it gives me great joy.

Learning is a lifelong process, and even the silliest things can be an opportunity to learn. My primary teaching strategy lies in working together to solve problems and fill in the gaps in a student's knowledge. We work through questions together and learn as we solve them. Though medical sciences are my focus, I have a broad knowledge base and use that base to bring science to life. From pop culture to politics, we can find common ground in order to link your everyday interests to your studies!I've worked with medical students, reviewing information with them and putting a different spin on concepts in order to make those concepts clear. I've also worked with GED prep students who are working out information anew. I have a background in psychiatry, which serves as a testament to the patient, non-judgmental approach that I bring to every interaction.I enjoy medicine and I enjoy people, and therefore also enjoy sharing information and coming up with new ways to present medical concepts.I know what it is like to put pressure on oneself to attain a specific grade or a specific title. I also know the profound effects of being able to demonstrate knowledge outside of the classroom. From those experiences, I have learned to communicate clearly and efficiently, helping students achieve understanding and confidence from our first session. I bring in the best support resources (including easy to understand videos, games, websites, and handouts) to support the individual learning styles and needs of the student.In my work with students who are focusing on the social sciences and humanities, I also draw on a wide range of experiences. With my Masters degree in International Affairs and BA in Liberal Arts, I have the academic foundation necessary to work with diverse student needs. My husband is Peruvian and we are a bilingual family. My four kids all speak both English and Spanish and love to travel to their father's homeland.

I am the proud parent of 4 amazing children and lucky enough to have a job that I truly love. Currently, I am employed as a Basic Skills instructor in a public school. I have over 15 years of experience in elementary education and consider teaching not only my career, but my passion. I pride myself on my ability to connect with my students and design a unique educational plan that will best serve their needs. I feel it is very important to take the time to ascertain the learning style of my students and then tailor my lessons accordingly. My supervisors have always applauded my rapport with both my students and parents, and I make every effort to treat my students the way, I, as a parent would like my child to be treated. Currently, I'm working towards a Bachelor's degree in Finance at Portland Community College. I have been a formal and informal tutor over the last eight years. My philosophy is that there are always a couple of simple, crucial keys to success in any subject, and I'm looking to pass what I've learned over the years to students.
