I am a graduate of Sewanee: University of the South. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English. I also have two master's degrees in education - a Master's of Education from Vanderbilt University in Special Education and a Master's of Arts in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. I have over 15 years of teaching and tutoring students ages 5 through 15 in all subjects areas. I am a licensed ESL and special educator in TN. I am most excited about helping students struggling with reading and math find the keys to help them unlock the subjects so that they love to learn. I also enjoy helping students find the subjects about which they are passionate and helping them go deeper in those subject areas. I am passionate about all students having access to education and ensuring they have an access point regardless of their primary language, disability, or background.

I am currently working on publishing my honors senior thesis on Antarctic ice sheet dynamics in a scientific journal. Outside of academia, I enjoy performing as an actor on the stage and screen. I am passionate about carrying artistic endeavors alongside academic pursuits. I tutor a wide array of academic subjects, and I am most excited about tutoring students in Earth Science, writing and reading skills, Algebra 2, Calculus at all levels, and Physics. I also enjoy tutoring for the ACT and AP exams (humanities and sciences). As a tutor, I am dedicated to effective scientific communication; I believe strong written and oral communication are as essential to the sciences as the mathematical and scientific concepts at the core of each scientific discipline. Scientific communication is particularly important critical when equipping students with the tools necessary to combat climate change and its adverse effects.

I am particularly good at teaching speaking and writing in a smooth and exciting way. My students receive step-wise instructions in writing and clear feedback on their work. For speaking, I mostly focus on what my students want English for. This, I believe, maximizes our class efficiency.

I am an expert in psychology, reading, writing, and general scientific literacy. As a teacher and a tutor, I have worked with students ranging from children to doctoral degree candidates. I like tutoring students individually because it allows me to tailor my approach to each student in a way that I could never do in a classroom. Outside of my work, I enjoy listening to music, bicycling, cooking, and occasionally playing my trumpet.

I am a native Texan now living in NYC. I just finished my Master's degree, and I love food, reading, and travel.
