I graduated from the University of Delaware with my Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education.I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership from American University. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I spent a lot of time tutoring elementary and middle school students in reading and math. I also led two summer programs in which I facilitated STEM and teamwork activities with elementary aged students. Since graduation, I have spent two years teaching 5th and 6th grade English Language Arts in Boston, MA. I really enjoy working with my students to adapt my instruction in order to make it work for them. I believe education is really individualized-- every student learns differently and I am passionate about delivering instruction that is fun, engaging and relevant to each student! While I have experience tutoring and teaching many subjects for elementary and early middle school aged students, I really enjoy teaching math and reading. My goal is to make my students feel confident in themselves and in their ability to learn, and also have fun doing it! Outside of work, I love to run, hike, and paint.

I graduated Boston College, and I am loved the experience! I tutored extensively throughout high school, and so far I have continued this trend in college. Over my four years in high school, I tutored about 10 different students in areas such as English, Spanish (I am a native speaker), math, history, test prep, and even music performance. Now in college, I have 5 students, and I tutor them in math, reading, writing, grammar, proofreading, and in the development of useful skills such as time management, organization, staying focused and on task, and more.I find tutoring to be an extremely rewarding experience, both for the student and the tutor. Although it seems like the student is the only one learning, the tutor learns a great deal, as well. For instance, with each student I take on, I gain valuable experience that I can then use with another student. In addition, I love being able to assist a student in reaching their goals, be that a higher grade in a class, a deeper understanding of a specific topic, etc.I am a native speaker of Spanish- it was actually my first language! My entire family comes from (and still lives) in Galicia, the northwest province of Spain. Although I am fortunate enough to be bilingual, I still love tutoring others in the hopes that they will come to love the language just as much as I do.I took all the AP and Honors courses I could in high school, and although I placed out of my freshman English classes in college, I decided to take an extra English literature course out of my passion for the subject. I have worked towards having and using excellent grammar since a young age, and I find editing and proofreading to be a calming, enjoyable task.I began studying the violin when I was 6 years old, and it was only a few short years later that I decided to pursue it seriously. Since then, I have formed part of countless county and state-wide orchestras, as well as several symphonies on the national and international level. I have been lucky enough to perform in halls such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, United Palace, and more locations throughout the U.S. as well as Europe. I tutored music all throughout high school, and I am excited to continue doing so in college! If you happen to be interested in any of the areas I tutor in, please don't hesitate to contact me! I look forward to working with you!

I hail from Potomac, Maryland, where I was born into a family of math and science lovers. I shipped up to Boston for college and decided to hang around for a year afterwards, working as a CPR/First Aid Instructor. After growing weary of the Boston accent, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. In an effort to further pursue teaching, I flew to Israel for a year to work as a English teaching fellow in an elementary school. While there, my role was primarily to work with students on improving their English conversational skills, but I also ended up helping quite a few of them with math, in another language! It was by far the most enjoyable year of my life. The sense of satisfaction and fulfillment resulting from positively affecting the educational experiences of my students was truly remarkable and unforgettable.I firmly believe that learning should be enjoyable and fun. And it definitely can be! I love to laugh, and I also love to make other people laugh. If I can do that while successfully presenting material, my day is complete. I like to get to know my students as much as I can on a personal level, so that I can factor elements of their everyday lives into the learning equation (no pun intended). It is always beneficial to consider how various topics and concepts can be understood on an empirical level instead of just abstractly.Additionally, it is always my goal to develop a firm mutual layer of trust. I want my students to feel 100% comfortable expressing any worries or frustrations they may have. All students deserve the help and attention they need to make learning an enjoyable part of life! I look forward to lending it as best I can!

My teaching and tutoring experience began when I became frustrated by the public school system for my own children. Sometimes they needed extra help, while in other cases they were surpassing the curriculum available in both public and private schools. This experience opened my eyes, and I began homeschooling. In particular, I helped my last child, who is profoundly gifted, until she entered college at 13 years of age. I also have experience working in an inclusionary classroom with special needs children. Additionally, I worked to help college students succeed with goal setting and keeping on track to graduate from college. My most recent educational endeavor is working with an ESL school in Brazil teaching and tutoring all ages.I believe that you are never to old to learn new things. I love exploring and finding innovative ways of doing things. My hobbies include painting, sewing, crafting, gardening and travel. I love animals and have had many, including some most exotic ones while I lived in Brazil. I don't like to watch TV, but I love music! I have a wide variety of musical interests.

I love kids and I love learning. I have both an undergrad and graduate degree in English Language and Creative Writing. I have taught E.S.L. for the last two years and have been working with children of all ages for nearly thirty years now, from my own private childcare business to homework help, and tutoring. I enjoy helping students take a subject that they struggle with and turn it into a subject they are interested in! I'm particually good with young children, but also do well with pre-teen, high school, and college level students. My favorite subjects to teach are reading, creative writing, and public speaking as these are my personal passions. It's important to me that my students also have fun! if they don't want to be in my classroom, they are less likely to absorb and remember. I like to incorporate their interests into my lesson plans as much as possible to keep things interesting!

I am a Medical Graduate from the University of Panama Medical School. I received my Medical Doctorate degree in 2014 and moved to the U.S. to pursue training in Internal Medicine. During medical school, I enjoyed tutoring basic medical sciences to younger medical students and helping them succeed in their semesters. In addition to my love for teaching medical sciences, I love to teach Spanish. As a Native Spanish speaker that has lived in Cuba, Panama, and currently in the U.S, I can provide my students not only with the basic grammatical, spoken, and written foundations of the language, but also with an incredible cultural background that will help them engage and learn faster.

My academic experiences have spanned many different subjects. I have always loved history and the sciences, particularly chemistry. Despite my love for these subjects, they have not come easily to me always. I know that Chemistry can have a particularly sharp learning curve for students and I worked through that myself, developing study and problem solving techniques that eventually led me to score a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam. History also requires a lot of time and effort, especially with memorization, synthesis, and learning how to craft an argument for historical writing. Given my own experiences with academics and tutoring, I can offer support across a range of subjects including middle and high school math, high school biology and chemistry, and writing and study support in English and History.A little more about me! I am currently living and working in Boston, where I grew up. I received my BA in History of Science from Harvard University, completing coursework in history, government, social sciences, biology, chemistry, and physics. I recently graduated with First Honors from National University of Ireland, Galway with my Masters in Gender, Globalization, and Human Rights. I was just accepted to medical school at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and will begin there in the fall of 2018.
