I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biological and Biomedical Sciences with minors in Public Health and Computer Science. I then went on to get my Masters of Science in Medical Science, with a concentration in neuroscience research.Throughout high school and college, I actively tutored privately and for different tutoring companies. I have tutored students of all ages (from elementary to adult) in subjects such as reading and writing, mathematics, science, grammar, English comp and lit, and in playing the violin.I especially love tutoring math and science, as I have a very strong background in these areas.I have experience working with children of all ages, and with different disabilities (such as ADD, ADHD, autism, Asperger's syndrome, and physical disabilities affecting the child's fine and gross motor skills).I aspire to earn my Doctorates in Physical Therapy, where I then wish to continue on to specialize in neurological physical therapy working children. My hobbies include playing the violin (I have played for more than 15 years), writing children's books, and creating music accompanying the books. I also enjoy traveling, spending time with family and close friends, and basking in the sun at the beach.

I am a second year doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Arizona. I received my B.S. degree in psychology with a minor in biology, with a focus on neuroscience and biomedical science from Northern Arizona University. As long as I can remember, I have had a love for teaching. In elementary school I would come home in the afternoon and 'play school' with my stuffed animals, creating and grading worksheets for them. Throughout school, I continued to take every opportunity to assist friends and classmates. Now, in graduate school, I have had the opportunity for training in teaching strategies and philosophy, as well as hands-on work assistant teaching undergraduate psychology courses.I find that I am best at teaching test taking strategies, particularly for the SAT and GRE, and I excel at English focused tasks.Apart from teaching, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats, a flourishing desert garden, and am mastering Shaolin Kung Fu alongside my wonderful fiance.

I want to advocate for my students, be in their corner, and teach them how to stand up for themselves and how to make the change that they want to see in the world through education.

I am graduating from UW in Spring 2017 with a B.S. in Informatics and focus in Information Assurance and Cyber Security. After graduation, I will work for West Monroe Partners as a business and technology consultant.I have experience teaching computer science, web development, and photography to 10-15 year-old students through iD Tech's Alexa Cafe program. As a Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington, I also taught a Professionalism course, which focused on building an online presence, project planning, effective communication, and other aspects of professionalism.I primarily teach computer science and technology related subjects. Like many students, I struggled throughout my first computer science class. I believe you can learn a lot from failure; for that reason, I love challenging and encouraging students to overcome their learning obstacles and reach their full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy working on side projects (I'm currently developing an app!), hiking, yoga, reading, UX/UI design, traveling, and DIY projects.

I truly love learning in all subjects, both STEM and liberal arts. However, I know how frustrating it can be to feel completely helpless when a particular subject, topic, or problem just doesn't click. I love helping students become more comfortable in even their least favorite subjects. I have worked as a tutor in all subject areas for the past four years, but I currently specialize in English, Math, and Computer Science. My favorite subject to tutor is Computer Science. Programming, especially in 2018, is such an incredibly powerful skill to have, and I love to share my knowledge and passion for technology with my students.I am also very familiar with standardized tests, as I just completed the college application process (phew!). I graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart in NYC, and I will be pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Linguistics at Cornell University. I know how difficult it can be to navigate the world of testing and application requirements, and I want to help students feel as prepared as possible for their own college-prep journeys. I work as a tutor because to me, the best feeling in the world is not just watching my students' performance improve, but seeing their love for learning grow, too.Outside of tutoring, I love to read, make music, and work on my own programming projects. I am currently studying iOS app development outside of school, and I hope to soon start building and releasing my own iPhone apps! I am also incredibly passionate about music, and I am learning how to create my own music in Ableton Live. My favorite artists right now are Chance the Rapper and Foster the People, but honestly my answer will probably be different tomorrow!

I attended the University of Detroit Mercy where I gained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have also recently graduated with a Masters of Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University. As you may be able to tell, I have had a passion for science, especially biology, for many years. My academic journey has given me an immense amount of experience with a wide range of subjects and tests. I know very intimately what it is like to be under pressure to perform well in school and on tests and therefore can relate to students under similar circumstances. I have had the opportunity to tutor many people in a wide range of ages and academic abilities in the past.I tutor a wide range of subjects but am most passionate about Math, Science, Reading, Writing, and Test Preparation. I believe the first and most vital step in working with a student is to identify specifically where he or she is struggling. Every student is different and deserves a teaching method that is tailored to them. I believe students learn best when they are guided along through discussion and hands-on methods as opposed to when they are lectured to; I also believe learning can and should be fun! When it comes to preparing for tests, I believe that what you know is only a small part of the puzzle; perfecting test-taking skills is equally important. I have taken many standardized tests throughout my life, and have been able to do well by understanding the tests and utilizing these skills. When I have spare time, I enjoy staying active by playing basketball and exercising. I also enjoy reading, sports, music and traveling. I look forward to helping you find your full potential on the road to success.
