I am passionate about education, and supporting students in their academic journey is deeply rewarding to me. I enjoy seeing students build confidence and reach goals they didn't think they were capable of. Helping others develop both skills and self-confidence drives my dedication as a tutor.
I have worked with students in a variety of settings, including one-on-one tutoring sessions, online support, and classroom collaboration. I am a former homeschool mom and have also volunteered in a first-grade classroom, where I supported young students who were struggling to learn to read. These experiences taught me the importance of patience, encouragement, and the value of meeting students where they are developmentally and emotionally. Currently, I provide both in-person and online tutoring for students in GED, developmental, and college-level mathematics courses. I also serve as an embedded tutor for a developmental math course, working closely with faculty and students to support classroom learning.
After serving in the military, I returned to college in the spring of 2020 and began my academic journey at Craven Community College, where I earned three associate degrees. I later completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Liberty University in the spring of 2025. I attribute my academic success to family support, hard work, perseverance, and the encouragement I received from my professors.
I have experience tutoring a wide range of subjects, including math, philosophy, and economics. While I've enjoyed working across disciplinesespecially those that encourage critical thinking and real-world applicationI've chosen to focus primarily on mathematics because it is my favorite subject to tutor. I find math especially rewarding because it allows students to build confidence through problem-solving, develop logical reasoning skills, and see their progress in a tangible way.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, encouragement, and empowerment. I strive to uphold confidentiality and respect for diverse learners while offering individualized study strategies and clear instruction. My tutoring style is student-focused, flexible, and collaborative. I aim to promote academic confidence, encourage effective learning habits, and help students develop the tools they need to succeed independently.
Outside of academia, I'm a dedicated mother to two children, ages five and ten. One of my favorite hobbies is loom knitting hats, which began as a community service project my kids participated in through their youth group. I learned alongside them and quickly discovered how much I enjoyed it. What started as a family activity turned into a long-term hobby, and I now donate the hats I make to those in need. It's a creative and meaningful way to give back, and it reminds me daily of the importance of patience, consistency, and compassionvalues I bring into every tutoring session.
