Today we reviewed cellular respiration and the key terms such as exergonic, redox, and catabolic and then moved into discussing its counterpart, photosynthesis. We delved further into photosynthesis by covering the chief organelle, the chloroplast and its components. We then went over the chlorophyll molecule and its importance in absorbing blue and red light while reflecting green light in order to harvest energy. We plan to cover more of photosynthesis in our next session.

The student and I worked on her AP US Government keywords for her quiz on Friday. We worked through all of the key terms. She asked questions throughout our session, and we worked through some of the concepts she needed extra explanation on.

The student and I had a Skype session last night to review for her final. We primarily focused on complex algebra and polar coordinates, as well as some combinatorics, and she showed a strong retention of the concepts. She should be in good shape for her final.

We went over test bank questions that had the answer rationale. I supplemented the rationale with basic science and clinical experiences. I gave the student homework, which consisted of access to an online review site.

The student and I worked on the new unit that she started on Friday. We worked on unit conversions. For the metric system, we used the study tactic which is King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk, and for the liquid conversions we used the Giant G picture. She obtained a quick understanding and memorized these quickly and applied them to the lesson we worked on. It was a very productive session.

We went over three AP problems using rotational dynamics and the student was able to solve them and understand the process. One of the problems required an integral over mass so I taught him how to do that, and then with some extra time at the end of the session I went over a mass integral for a more complicated shape.
