I assigned the student to write 3 sentences - whatever came to mind. Although he needed prompting for the 1st and 3rd sentences, he wrote the 2nd sentence without any prompting. His 3rd sentence was a complex sentence and the longest he's written. His homework is to write 5 sentences based on the 5 sentences. Our next session is scheduled for Monday.

We made sure that he knew the appropriate gender for each noun. We also practiced speaking and writing sentences with the target vocab. We covered converting percentages to decimals, decimals to percentages, percent proportions and percent equations. The student was comfortable with the majority of the material. The biggest struggle was with percent proportions from word problems, but she picked it up quickly. She seemed confident in the material and it showed in her practice. The strategy I provided was how to convert fractions into decimals when comparing numbers from least to greatest. I also stressed how the word total equates to the 100 in a proportion.
