Trigonometry Tutoring review by Jorge in Smyrna, GA
The student and I studied for an upcoming trigonometry test. Using her latest homework assignment, we reviewed problems on which she struggled. She had diligently found problems on which she had questions. Based on her questions, we reviewed unit circles, domain and range, trigonometric equations, and trigonometric functions. To end the lesson, we identified question for which she should seek clarification.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Michael in Smyrna, GA
The student worked on a trigonometry project. He had to choose a location, and then take data from records throughout the course of a year on dawn and dusk times. This was to be plotted using technology, and a regression line had to be found by the associated program used. Finally, he had to explain how the trigonometric regression equation could be found without the use of technology. We discussed thoroughly along the way and came to a few points in which he became unsure as to his ability to complete the project. Still, as I continued to use inquiry and remind him of what he already knew, he continuously found good solutions.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Christian in Smyrna, GA
Yesterday was my first session with the student. His family asked me to start from the very beginning, which I did happily. We started by reviewing his notes from the first weeks of class. As we went through them I would ask him questions to challenge his knowledge of the subjects and fill in any gaps that I found. I think it is extremely important to understand what your students struggle with specifically. I determined that, while he knew how to do most things required, he did not know why he was doing them. For example, he knew what the relationships between special cases of right triangles were, but did not know where they came from. To fix this I coaxed him into discovering the relationships through Pythagorean theorem or wherever they came from. We also looked at why the circumference of a circle was 2*pi*r and how that related to the arc-length formula. The student is not allowed to use a calculator in class and has to memorize specific values of sine, cosine, and tangent. To help him with this I related the numbers on the page to the graphs of the functions and the unit circle. He then asked me what the origin of the unit circle was and I showed him. His family requested that I leave him with some additional work, and so I gave him the most recent multiple choice portion of the exam and asked him to try to do whatever he's covered in class so far so we could go over it on our next session.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Travis in Smyrna, GA
Today, the student and I worked on triangles and the degrees that measure a triangle. She struggles with subtraction basics, mainly the highest-placed digit. She was in a good mood as she is now getting a B in the class. She's gaining confidence and I feel that is helping her.

We reviewed our notes from the fractions video last time, and continued finding the larger of two that have different denominators. We used the paint program on my computer to visualize this. Then, we practiced reading and wrote down vocabulary words.

Student A and I started going over probability in preparation for his next unit in math. He did very well with the basics of probability. Additionally, he said the he believes he did very well on his math test on Friday, and I look forward to hearing the results. Student B and I focused on fractions today. He did very well with the concepts and problems we went over.
