I am a recent PhD graduate in African-American Studies & Philosophy from Harvard University. I also earned MA's in both Philosophy and African-American Studies, respectively. My areas of specialization at the graduate level are in ethics, moral thought, philosophy of law, political theory, Africana philosophy, and criminology. I am New York State Certified in Childhood Education (1st-6th grade). I was a tenured New York City classroom teacher, before I decided to start my own family. For the past three years I have been teaching online classes to oversea students of all ages.

I am currently a senior at Loyola University Chicago pursuing degrees in Psychology and Social Work. In the fall, I'll begin my Master's of Social Work with a focus on working with children and families. I am passionate about helping students gain confidence in their academics through a gentle yet direct approach. My areas of specialty are Psychology, English, and ACT prep. When working with others, I have a goal of empowering them to see and achieve their full potential, which I accomplish through directive strategies that allow students to explore different theories and learning practices than they'd considered. I will provide individual-based tutoring that is catered towards the student's needs to ensure their success.

I have a lot of educational theory knowledge thanks to my master's degree from NYU in TESOL and Foreign Language Education, and I've put that into practice during my teaching: elementary ESL and high school Japanese and English/ESL. I've also taught English in elementary schools in Japan, and worked online and in person with kids and adults in ESL and Japanese. I have experience tutoring for standardized tests as well. I believe that we can work together to construct knowledge instead of just lecturing at you while you memorize facts. I want to help you learn, grow and realize your own potential!
