If you're hoping to someday become a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Practical Nurse (PN), let Varsity Tutors get you enrolled in a quality Syracuse NCLEX course. The NCLEX is a test designed to measure one's potential to enter the nursing profession and adequately perform entry-level duties and tasks. In order to put your best foot forward, you'll want to make sure to review all the correct material and skills. Enrolling in an online Syracuse NCLEX course can help ensure you don't miss any crucial information. Varsity Tutors is here to support you as you work towards licensure or registration.
What skills and topics can be covered during a Syracuse NCLEX course?
The NCLEX exam comes in two different forms depending on what your professional goal is. If you're taking the NCLEX-RN, you'll answer between 75 and 265 questions. This version has a maximum time allowance of 6 hours. The NCLEX-PN will have between 85 and 205 questions with a time limit of no more than 5 hours. Many candidates do not need the entire time in order to complete the exam. The questions can be multiple-choice, ordered response, hot spots, or fill-in-the-blank calculation. Any of these types of questions may use tables, charts, sound, graphics, or videos.
The reason the number of questions varies so much is due to the use of Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). CAT allows the exam to more fully measure a candidate's potential. As you progress through the exam, the difficulty of questions adjusts to match your performance. The computer aims to give you questions you have a 50 percent chance of getting correct. This is thought to give a more precise picture of your abilities and means no two students will receive the same exact questions. Your NCLEX class can include instruction on the best ways to tackle CAT exams.
Both the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN focus mainly on patient needs. Your Syracuse NCLEX course can help you review topics such as creating a safe and effective care environment, safety and infection control, and health promotion/maintenance. You can also spend time going over psychosocial integrity, basic care and comfort, pharmacological therapies, and physiological adaptation. Additionally, you may wish to review the content learned in social science, physical science, and biological science courses you would have taken at a college or university such as SUNY Onondaga Community College or Le Moyne College.
