Today we continued reading the student's book which is almost finished. We're working on his sight words and word patterns, and letter and number writing practice. He read another short book, then we did the adding game. We tried quick addition flashcards toward the end of the session.

For the first half hour I worked with the student on homework and sounding out three letter words. For the next half hour we worked on reading, writing and identifying sight words.

We worked on phonics, reading, adding and subtracting to 30, counting to 30 forward and backwards, and reviewed identification of shapes. The student is really sounding out the words now. We are making great progress.

We discussed on /ou/ /ow/ blends. She was able to grasp the concept quickly and was able to decode words using the blend. The other student still needs practice with initial sounds and final sounds. The blend was a challenge for him. I left him with a /ou/ book to practice.

The student got some small assignments and worksheets out of the way first, then we focused mostly on studying for the tests and quizzes he has at the end of this week of which there are 3. When I quiz him on the information, he seems to know a lot of it, but there are still some details that are tripping him up. After completing the final assignment as a review for his biology test, I'm confident he will be able to recall that information better. He is not behind on any assignments and this weekend and he is prepared well for his test.
