Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Courtney in Aurora, CO
Both student 1 and student 2 were present for this session. Student 1 has a test on Friday over the -ar verbs. he had a review worksheet, and we spent time using conjugemos and flashcards. Student 2 had a new worksheet focusing on usage of ser and estar. We also used conjugemos and flashcards. Both boys are moving on to reading To Kill a Mockingbird in English class. We reviewed note taking and chapter review strategies to raise their overall course grades. I tasked both with taking notes on the characters and plot line, along with writing a chapter review at the end of each. Both boys are working on Greece and Alexandria in history. Student 2 had an exam Wednesday, and student 1 has one on Friday. We discussed/reviewed the topics from the chapter to help student 1 in review for the exam.

Today was my first session with the student. I spent some time speaking with his parents about what he needs help with and the best way to approach it. I spent the rest of the session helping the student complete his science lab on an egg drop and start planning an English essay he has due next week. I encouraged him to keep using the planner and calendar his dad created for him.

We discussed the student's upcoming homework, and how to best execute her portfolio she has to create. We planned to bring information to our next appointment, such as her requirements for location specific information, and my information. We planned to organize her two lessons she will be observed for once she knew which classroom age group she would be teaching.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Jaclyn in Aurora, CO
It didn't take too long for me to pretty much completely understand his situation, including what helps him and what gets in the way. We discussed expanding the scope of his planning to weeks and months as opposed to days. Part of that entails writing in his planner all of his assignments, exams, etc. for the rest of the semester, and scheduling time to do the assignments rather than just the deadlines for them. We also talked about shifting identity and influences, and how those impact his ability and/or motivation to stay on top of his responsibilities. The goal this week is to be able to get assignments completed at least the day before they're due.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Hilary in Aurora, CO
The student recently had an Astronomy exam that she didn't do too well on. We looked at her study sheets (they were great) and went over each wrong answer on the test, looking for the reason she may have gotten them wrong. We discussed ways to improve studying, but we found that the bulk of her issue was with her confidence. The student and her mother agreed that they would work on it. She is very smart and should be super confident while test taking! We also reviewed some of her science material that will be coming up on her exam. The student knew it all! We still wrote down a few things for her to review and how she could review or remember them.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Melissa in Aurora, CO
We are trying to find a method that will help the student remember important assignments; writing in the planner and writing sticky notes to herself didn't remind her enough. I had her put alerts in her phone to hopefully be a more effective reminder. At this session, we worked on her upcoming math spiral check so she has one more thing out of the way.
