What will I be reviewing in a Portland LSAT course?
When you take the LSAT, there will be four main sections on the test. These sections are Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. These are subjects that a Portland LSAT course can help you review. Let's examine each of these sections in turn to get a better idea of what they'll involve and the skills that you will need for them.
The Analytical Reasoning section, which lasts 35 minutes, will test how well you can comprehend a structure of relationships and draw logical conclusions from it. In this portion of the exam, you must be able to reason through conditional statements and infer truth based upon information that is provided to you. For this section, you must have a sharp ability to work through logical statements and come to accurate conclusions about them.
In the Reading Comprehension portion of the test, which will take 35 minutes, you will be tested on your ability to comprehend long and complicated texts. Since this is a skill that you must use constantly throughout law school, it is critical that you understand it. Here you must demonstrate a keen ability to answer questions about the main point of a text, understand the attitude of the author, and make logical inferences from the text.
When you get to the Logical Reasoning section of the test, you will have 70 minutes to critically analyze arguments. This content will come from a wide variety of publications such as magazines, newspapers, and scholarly material. Here you must be able to identify the assumptions that an argument makes, find flaws in the argument, and recognize the different parts of an argument and how they relate to each other.
In the Writing section of the test, you will have 35 minutes to make a choice between two positions and compose a well-reasoned response. Your writing must be organized and demonstrate an ability to defend your response using the proper techniques of argumentation. In order to succeed in this section, you must have a powerful command of written English. Although this section isn't scored, you must bear in mind that your sample will be sent to each school that you apply to. Therefore, it is essential that you submit your best work.
How can a Portland LSAT class help prepare me?
