If you're a law student at the University of Minnesota Law School, University of St. Thomas School of Law, or another school in the region, you may find benefits in a Minneapolis bar exam prep course. Varsity Tutors can assist you by providing a course that fits your needs and schedule. If you're approaching the bar exam, you've certainly invested a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into your education and career, and passing the exam may be one of the last barriers between you and the realization of all that work. A Minneapolis bar exam course can help you pursue success in protecting that investment. You'll have access to a professional bar exam prep instructor who can deliver lessons and study plans, and you'll be able to work with other law students in a mutually-supportive online classroom that will make accessing your course simple and easy.
What kinds of material will be reviewed in a Minneapolis bar exam class?
Requirements for a license to practice law vary from state to state, but in Minnesota, you could be taking the MPRE and the UBE. MPRE stands for Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, and this test will assess your understanding of issues of ethics, professional conduct, and discipline among lawyers and judges. You'll have two hours to answer multiple-choice questions on topics like conflicts of interest, the client-lawyer relationship, and other similar concepts.
The UBE, or Uniform Bar Exam, allows you to transfer your exam scores to other jurisdictions that have adopted the standard. The UBE comes in three parts. First, there's the Multistate Bar Examination. Here you'll encounter a 200-question multiple-choice test, which you'll have six hours to complete. This part of the UBE covers law fundamentals and expects you to apply your legal reasoning skills to answer questions on subjects such as constitutional law, real property, torts, and so on. Next is the Multistate Essay Examination, where you'll be asked to answer six 30-minute written response questions, which are intended to gauge your written communication skills. You'll be given a hypothetical situation and have to separate out meaningful legal information, develop an argument, and write up a reasoned analysis. Last is the Multistate Performance Test. This final section of the UBE will provide you with two realistic scenarios intended to emulate the kind of work you'd perform as a lawyer in the real world. You might be asked to write up a memorandum to a supervising attorney, for example, or draft a will. You'll have 90 minutes for each scenario, so you'll have to work well under pressure.
How will a Minneapolis bar exam course present all of this?
If you enroll in our courses, you'll be able to attend an online classroom where you'll be taught by an experienced bar exam instructor. Thanks to our video chat platform, you'll be able to see, hear, and speak with your instructor and classmates, so you can engage with your class just as if you were meeting in person. Your instructor can help you break down the bar exam and go over the test section by section, helping you to build your comprehension of the topics at hand and develop test-taking strategies specific to the format of the test. You may also take part in class activities and group discussions, which can bring you into a dialogue with diverse perspectives on law, which can be an excellent way to build your skills in argumentation and can aid you in developing a well-rounded understanding of ethical concerns in law. You'll also be able to reserve individual time with your instructor outside of class so you can clarify difficult topics in a one-on-one environment.
The online format of a Minneapolis bar exam class can offer some unique advantages. You'll be able to access your classroom from any location that you have a connection to the internet, so you'll be able to find a study space that you find comfortable and well-suited to your work, where you won't have to experience the distractions of a traditional classroom. This also means you won't have to worry about the expense and time wasted in a commute, which can free up more time to study and help you fit a prep class into your busy life. There are plenty of class meeting times available, too, so even if you have a demanding schedule, you can find something that's right for you.
