What can Los Angeles SAT prep cover?
The SAT evaluates your skill in Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. You will have about three hours to complete all three sections, but it is important to note that the time is not divided equally between them. Each of the sections is divided into subsections that are broken down in the score to provide insight into your individual strengths. If you want your writing skill evaluated, you can also opt to include the SAT Essay section of the test. The will have 50 minutes to finish the Essay section.
Some of the skills measured in the Reading section of the SAT include reading comprehension and reasoning skills. You will be asked to answer questions from a reading passage which may consist of charts, tables, and other graphics.
The Writing and Language section of the SAT measures a variety of skills, including grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, and punctuation.
In the Math section of the SAT, your knowledge of a variety of mathematical skills will be evaluated. You should be aware that you are not allowed to use a calculator on all portions of the examination and not all calculators are allowed. Be sure when you're preparing for the test you are using the right type of calculator.
If you choose to include the Essay section as part of your SAT, you may want to refine your general writing skills which can include the ability to understand an argument and present it with supporting evidence.
What are the benefits of taking a Los Angeles SAT prep class?
We understand how busy your life is and that you don't have a lot of time to wait once you decide to begin preparing for the SAT. That's why our classes are divided into sections, and new sections start each week. No matter when you register, you will be able to get started quickly.
Whether you want a quick overview to prepare for the exam or you want a little more time to dig into individual skills, we have you covered. You can choose either a two-week or a four-week class to make sure you have enough time to work on all of your SAT study goals.
Classes are delivered in an online setting which makes them easy to access and cuts down on collateral time killers like commuting to and from class, looking for parking, or walking across campus. When it's time for the class, you can just log on from wherever you are and get started, as long as you have an internet connection.
Your prep class is structured much like a typical classroom. Your teacher will address the class and present the session's material. Then they may encourage group discussion, facilitate a group project, or answer individual student's questions.
When you enroll in an SAT prep class, you get all of the benefits of a structured academic environment, real-time instruction, and invaluable peer participation.
How is working with a Los Angeles SAT tutor different from taking a course?
Working with a personal instructor offers several unique advantages over preparing as part of a class. Possibly the most crucial difference is the level of individualized instruction you receive when you work directly with a private instructor. In a classroom setting your teacher must allocate time to teaching the lesson of the day, facilitating group activities, and answering questions from all of the students. When you work with a private instructor, you are the only person with whom they are working. Personal tutoring means your teacher can take the time to learn more about your personality, learning style, and academic needs as they design your sessions. With this level of personal insight into your needs and goals, they can target the areas you need to specifically address and not waste time reviewing topics you've already mastered. Working in this way allows you to prioritize your time and work towards your academic goals more efficiently.
Another significant advantage of working with a private instructor is the increased scheduling flexibility. The times a Los Angeles SAT prep course is available is fixed. They are scheduled so they are convenient to a broad range of students, but that doesn't mean they are always ideally timed for your personal schedule. When you work with a private instructor, you are in control of when you meet. You can schedule your sessions for the morning, afternoon, or evening throughout the week and on weekends. If you need greater scheduling flexibility, working with a private instructor can give you the support and freedom you need as you work towards your SAT goals.

...answers on their own and develop their critical thinking skills. As a tutor, I structure my teaching around the student's individual interests and needs. For example, one 6th grade student loved to perform onstage, so we wrote a play to explore theme, plot, and dialogue. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading, writing, English and American history. In my free time, I teach yoga and write creative non-fiction. I love cooking, eating, and travel.
