I believe tutoring is the single greatest tool that will fix the holes currently being perpetuated by our flawed education system in the United States. I am a graduate of University of Virginia. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nanomedicine Engineering with minor in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. I was interested in dentistry, so I also took pre-requisite science courses for health professional schools and Dental Admission Test (DAT) . Since graduation, I have been working as a research assistant/laboratory manager at academic/research institutions. I am in the process of applying to graduate school and plan to pursue my Ph.D. in Bioengineering. I have been continuously involved in helping students learn as a teaching assistant in college and as a private tutor. I tutor Algebra, Geometry, DAT and GRE math. In my spare time, I enjoy various family activities with my husband and Ruby who is a certified therapy dog. We enjoy hiking, visiting dog-friendly parks, and volunteering at hospitals.

Currently, I am working as a clinical researcher in the biggest affiliated hospitals of Harvard medical school.I wasn't always the brightest, an all As- receiving student in class. Trust me, I really wasn't. I've been envious of those who were the smartest in class, but never imagined I could be at the top of my class when I was in middle school. I was averaging Bs mostly, and I never felt the passion to complain to my teachers to receive one additional point in the hopes of receiving a B+. I spent my days watching TV, playing games, and hanging out with my friends. But I've had a moment of change. A BIG CHANGE of my life that brought me to who I am today.With a gentle push from my mother who insisted I take the PSAT for admissions to a competitive high school with an IB program, I reluctantly gave in and took the test. On the day of the results, I couldn't find my name on the list of accepted students, to which my mom was in despair. But she was in joy when she spotted my name on the addendum list of students who were waitlisted to the program in the following weeks.My acceptance to and decision to participate in this IB program at a competitive high school was probably the best decision I made. I met great friends there, who encouraged me to try harder, study harder, and work harder towards my goal for greater achievement. Every time I was discouraged by my grade, I had family, friends, and amazing support from my teachers who encouraged me to try even harder. Until eventually, this became a habit, and my new standard.My motto is "play hard, but work harder." I want you to study hard and work hard, but I also want you to have fun, and enjoy your life. I have experience tutoring students of all age from elementary to college students. In college, I was working as a student academic advisor for lower undergraduate students who were having difficulty adjusting to college and learning intensive materials. I also tutored math, sciences, english, SAT, and TOEFL for students both through academies and private tutoring.

I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, a liberal arts college in Connecticut. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education Studies with a minor in East Asian Studies. I completed my Master of Arts in Psychology conducting research in the Community-engaged Adolescent for Research and Equity (CARE) Lab. At Wesleyan University, I was a teaching assistant for Advanced Korean, Korean Language Partner, and a Korean tutor for the Dean's Peer Tutoring program. While I have tutored a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Korean as I am a Korean-American myself. As Korean culture has been expanding globally, I think it is important to properly learn the culture and the language. In my experience helping students learn Korean to achieve their goals, whether that is to communicate with family, study in Korea, and/or travel to Korea, is always such a fun and rewarding experience.
