We prepared for her Spanish speaking quiz and Math test. For Spanish, we went over the family members and how to describe them. For Math, we went over square roots, irrational and rational numbers and the Pythagorean theorem. We had gone over some of this Math stuff previously, and she did really well again. I think she is very prepared for both tests!

We focused on student's homework which was fact families. She is very strong when remembering her multiplication facts so she was very successful with this. We also finished her assessment and discussed problem areas. We decided that the first 10 minutes or so of each lesson will be a review of 3rd grade skills.

Tutoring review by Kim in Fremont, CA
Today we worked for two and a half hours so she could build her stamina for the exam. I timed her on each of the sections so that she will feel comfortable in a timed setting. We covered Reading, Math, and the Writing portion. Math she is doing very well but still needs to work with decimals and fractions. After review, she seemed to understand the basic concept.  The Reading Comprehension section she does well finding her answer in the exam. She needs to review those questions which are vocabulary related. We discussed writing a detailed answer to an essay prompt. We reviewed the writing process and critiqued a sample essay.

We did last-minute test prep for the student's SAT on Saturday. We focused heavily on the Writing section, reviewing the grammar principles and applying them to actual SAT questions. This method of going through the questions and talking them out seemed to be most effective.
