I have attended and worked at the tutoring center, EDU4U, for the last 7 years. My own experiences as a student receiving tutoring has taught me and helped me a lot in being a successful tutor. In my opinion, the most important part of tutoring is understanding each individual's needs and learning methods. Everyone is different and to be a successful tutor, you cannot apply the same teaching methods to every student. Understanding how quickly students learn, what types of strengths they have, and their motivations for receiving tutoring is key to helping a student achieve their academic goals. My tutors have been some of my greatest mentors, and I want to be able to pass that on to my students.

I am currently an undergraduate student at UC Santa Barbara working on my Bachelor's of Science degree in General Biological Sciences. After graduation I plan to expand my health care education and pursue a career as a health care professional, either as a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. On May 25, 2014, I graduated with a Masters in Environmental Policy and Management with an emphasis in Global Environmental Management from the American Public University. I have worked for the United States Forest Service for the last 5 years. During my employment with the USFS, I have surveyed small mammals, birds, carnivores, invertebrates, and vegetation species. I have also been a part of projects that studied California red-legged frogs, western pond turtles and stream dwelling salamander species. I am passionate about biology and environmental sciences. My tutoring experience includes middle school, high school and college students. In my experience, discussing life science has always been the most interesting for me and my students. My tutoring style alters to cater to my student's needs. I like to get to know my students and see what style works the best for that individual. My goal is to help my students succeed.
