What's the price of studying with a private tutor in Syracuse?

The price of working with a seasoned tutor in Syracuse depends on several different variables, including how often you or your student wish to meet your instructor, the level of material to be reviewed, your location, and more. For example, tutoring for a child learning about addition and subtraction at Cherry Road Elementary School would be a different price than tutoring for a student taking discrete mathematics at Syracuse University.

Similarly, you may be charged a different rate for a set study schedule than if you only contacted your academic coach for emergencies.

Who you study with can also affect the price you pay. If you choose 1-on-1 sessions, your instructor can introduce fresh concepts as you are ready to receive them, whether that means moving more quickly or slowly than your classroom instructor. Or, you can take advantage of group sessions where you and your peers can help each other develop a deeper understanding of academic concepts. Both approaches are valid, and Varsity Tutors provides thorough small group classes to supplement any tutoring plan.

A Syracuse tutor can help students who are struggling and those who consistently earn good grades, so you shouldn't assume that you're a poor candidate. Please contact one of our amicable Educational Directors to find out more about the benefits of private tutoring, including specific pricing details.

How do I locate a private tutor in Syracuse for my student?

If you tried to find a qualified private teacher in Syracuse on your own, you would need to make sure that each candidate offered excellent communication skills, scheduling flexibility, and demonstrable expertise in all of the topics you're reviewing. If that sounds like too much work, let the expert Educational Directors at Varsity Tutors take care of all of the legwork for you.

We maintain a network of 40,000+ certified tutors, allowing us to find a great fit for your scheduling needs in as little as 24 hours. If your child frequently forgets the materials they need to finish their homework, we'll find you an instructor who can help them refine their organization skills. If you could express your ideas more clearly on written assignments, we'll refer you to a writing expert who can show you how easy it can be to work from an outline.

We will even connect you with a tutor in Syracuse who you can study alongside without ever leaving the comfort of home. Our exclusive Live Learning Platform is accessible on a broad variety of computers and mobile devices, allowing you to choose any working environment that makes sense for you. If you've never studied remotely previously, our platform includes a plethora of features to help you adapt. For instance, your instructor can use the included virtual whiteboard to make it easier for you to take notes on thermodynamics or the behavior of sound waves. Every session is also recorded automatically for your convenience.

What are the types of tutoring offered in Syracuse?

Varsity Tutors will find you an expert in over 3,000 different areas, so we will have no problem accommodating your needs. If you are studying cell division at a local school such as Jamesville-Dewitt High School, we'll find you an instructor who can use infographics to help illustrate each stage of the process.

If you're having a hard time with microbiology, we'll connect you with a tutor who has professional experience in the field.

A private Syracuse tutor can also help you prepare for high-stakes assessments. If you are finishing up at Solvay High School, we'll refer you to an expert on the SAT's Writing & Language section who can increase your self-confidence heading into your college entrance exam. We will also find you assistance with Regents exams, the NCLEX, USMLE, PSAT, and dozens of other tests.

If you're interested in adding CompTIA certs to your resume, we can set you up with support for a variety of certification tests as well. We will even find you a tutor who can support your homeschooling efforts. You might not think you need a tutor's help to teach your own children, but a professional instructor can provide valuable support. For example, your instructor can present any topics that you don't feel confident discussing. They can also review your lesson plans and offer helpful suggestions to improve them.

Working with a tutor also gets you access to our Learning Lab: a collection of resources such as adaptive assessments and instructional videos to expedite the homeschooling process. You also receive weekly progress reports that make it easy to monitor your student's progress. Trust us: you won't want to go back to homeschooling alone once you've seen how a tutor can help.

Are the tutors in Syracuse assessed for their qualifications?

At Varsity Tutors, we use an extensive screening process that ensures that we find you an excellent tutor in Syracuse. We start by verifying each candidate's experience and academic knowledge because every student deserves to work with a skilled instructor.

We also look into each candidate's availability to mitigate annoying schedule conflicts.

Furthermore, we look for many intangible qualities that many of our competitors neglect. For instance, we search out instructors who are comfortable utilizing a variety of different techniques because teaching to a student's preferred learning style can dramatically improve their study efficiency. We also value enthusiastic instructors who can share their own lifelong love of learning with their pupils. Most importantly, your tutor in Syracuse will be patient as you try to learn pronunciation in a foreign language or how a microbe responds to external stimuli.

The benefits of working with a tutor can be immeasurable, and Varsity Tutors is the best way to connect with one. Our Educational Directors are ready and waiting to find you a private teacher in Syracuse, but it's up to you to get the process started. Tutoring review by Rudy in Sunnyvale, CA
The student started the trig functions in geometry. We reviewed the mnemonic of SOH, CAH, and TOA to help memorize the sides/angles involved. We also reviewed using the inverse function (arcsin, arctan, arccos). We then went through practice problems using the trig functions to solve for a missing side or angle.   Overall, she did very well. Once she seemed to have a good understanding of how to set up the problems and what exactly the trig functions are used for, she did great.

Tutoring review by Karen in Sunnyvale, CA
First, I checked three pages of math homework. The student missed five problems. We discussed each problem, and she corrected each. Next, I gave her a practice test on her 20 spelling words. She missed 5. I had her to write each word 5 times saying each syllable as she wrote the word to help her remember the spelling by syllable and sound. I gave her a second practice test. She spelled all words correctly. Last, we did the multiplication flash cards. She did much better.

In today's session, the student and I worked on her math packets.  She has definitely shown improvement in so many areas, especially with word problems, solving a system of equations, finding area/surface area/lateral area/volume and finding equations/expressions for tables. She has more difficulty in the following area: writing equations of lines from looking at a graph.  Overall, she has improved a lot

Tutoring review by Danielle in Sunnyvale, CA
Today we reviewed homework that I gave my client for the week. We focused on her rereading of what she wrote to make sure it made sense and it was clear. We started to work on inferencing, which is just another way of saying higher order thinking and questioning. I brought over tons of books on her level and the level I would like for her to be on during the summer before she gets back to school. I chose a book that we will read together so I can ask her questions and have her start asking questions. The first session of this technique went pretty well. She chose the book she would like to read on her own, and she has to make up two questions on her own about the book. Overall my client is making good progress.
