How can a tutor assist you in conquering Pre-Calculus?

Calculus is one of the most important subjects in math. It is used for a variety of different subjects and is typically found on standardized tests. In order for your child to work towards success academically, it is essential that they have a clear understanding of the subject. In order to do this, it is also important that they have a strong foundation before they begin calculus in earnest. One of the ways you may make sure that they receive this foundation is by having them work with a private tutor while they are taking precalculus. Varsity Tutors may help connect you and your child with an expert precalculus tutor in Jacksonville, FL, who may focus on your child's specific needs to create study sessions that could be effective to meet their goals. Whether your child is just interested in passing a precalculus course, preparing for calculus, preparing for a career in math or science, or studying for a standardized test, a private precalculus tutor may help.

Help your child ace their course with the help of a professional expert precalculus tutor in Jacksonville today. A private tutor is a major upgrade over traditional classroom learning because your child's tutor may give them as much time and attention as they need to succeed. Your child's teacher is likely constrained by time and the number of students they have in their class. This is not a problem for a private tutor because they may be working with your child on an individual level. Your child may ask as many questions as they need to. So, whether they are struggling with mathematical induction, function composition, vertical lines, or rational functions, your child's tutor may assist them in making sense of it.

Session Summaries by Pre-Calculus Tutors

Jacksonville, FL Pre-Calculus tutoring
In our session today, the student and I went over more study problems for pre-calculus. The topics covered included identifying shifts to functions, exponential equations and problems that use those equations, logarithms, and trigonometry (covering the unit circle). A note of progress was from working the problems and that with a little prompting he was able to work out the problems completely and made fewer errors. Covering the unit circle was new to the student, but he is starting to get the hang of it. I believe a little more exposure to it will enhance his understanding tremendously.

Today we started by working on the student's test corrections of his physics exam. We moved on to PreCalc, which involved proving trigonometric identities. By the end of the assignment he was moving though the problems with ease. He just needs to be careful of his signs and arithmetic. I will continue to address this issue.

We went over trigonometric identities -- Pythagorean identities, double angle formula, half angle formula, sum/difference of angle formulas, phase shift formulas, negative angle formulas to make them positive, etc. We then went over a host of problems, like how to find the sin (75 degrees), etc. by making use of these formulas. We also went over showing that a given trigonometric equality is true by working one side of the equation by making substitutions to arrive at the same thing that is on the other side of the original equation.

We briefly reviewed logarithms and the rules. We mostly spent time going over the properties of inverse trigonometric functions and how to graph them. We went over the domain and range for each one. We also reviewed how to graph an inverse function that included transformations. We also covered how to calculate values from trigonometric functions within trigonometric functions. It was a solid session.

The student and I covered tangent and cotangent graphs, learning how to manipulate these graphs and understand the reason why the graphs look the way they are. She has received a 96 on her previous quiz and hopes to do well on the next quiz as well.
