Trigonometry Tutoring review by Donnetta in North Dakota
The student did not receive any homework today, so we just reviewed previous material. We worked on multiplying and dividing fractions. We had to refresh on multiplying two digit numbers and how to change a mixed number into an improper fraction. I wrote out steps for each topic so the student can have a reference. The student had a quiz today on rates and plotting x and y values on a graph. He feels he did well. I have no concerns.

The student did really well during our first tutoring session! We worked through her homework on order of operations and estimation, both concepts that she has a solid handle on. She works hard through challenging problems, and we corrected her mistakes from her quiz. When she feels confident about her skills, she works out complicated problems in her head, but will revert to using her fingers or guessing if she doesn't feel quite as assured. We can work on building up her confidence and intuition, which will help her math skills and applications to more challenging problems. We also organized her math folder, and separated papers she has completed vs. ones she is currently working on. She was focused and did great today!

The student did really well during our session today. We covered composition of functions [such as f(g(x))], inverse functions, and other topics concerning linear expression and components of functions. Through some practice problems of both composition of functions and inverse functions, she seems to understand the concepts well, answering all of my later "tricky" questions correctly. She has an upcoming exam on this material on Wednesday, so, the next session will be not only ensuring she understands the material of that week, but also to see how she does on the test. Overall, nice job today!

The student did really well in this section. Then we went back to section 1.4 based on our previous session, and he made big improvements in solving equations with two absolute values, writing an absolute value equation given a set of solutions, and absolute value word problem.

The student did really well. We covered polynomials: combining like terms, expanding, synthetic and long division, naming by degree and number of terms. The student had a little bit of trouble in dividing, but seemed to clear it up by the end of the session. T

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Rachel in North Dakota
The student did some problems on a worksheet nearly identical to the one we completed on Sunday. It was still good practice, and recognizing prime factors has become more automatic for her. We also did a couple of pages from the workbook which were mostly about quadratic factoring, rather than GCF factoring. These included the difference of squares, and she picked up the pattern immediately. The normal quadratic factoring problems gave us some more opportunities to practice finding prime factors, which was great. Many had some larger, more challenging numbers, but she handled them fine.
