However far you are into your ACT prep, Varsity Tutors can help you get started with a Buffalo ACT class that can provide you with a more in-depth review than the one you may be able to do on your own. The American College Test, or ACT, may be one of the biggest challenges of the college preparation process. If you are a high school student who is preparing to take the ACT, you might be wondering where to begin your exam prep.
For students who are in need of help as they are getting started or those who want to boost their current study methods, a Buffalo ACT prep course could be a great solution. If you choose to enroll in a Buffalo ACT course, you will get access to comprehensive online courses that are taught by an expert instructor. These ACT courses can help you learn not only the content, but also the format of the exam.
College admissions boards will use your ACT scores to help determine if you are a good fit for their school, so it is essential to do your best on test day. The test consists of five sections, four of which are required. It doesn't matter if you are just starting your test prep or you are right in the middle of the chaos - either way, you are probably wondering how to make the most of your study time. If you are ready to get some extra help, Varsity Tutors can help you enroll in a Buffalo ACT class.
What does Buffalo ACT prep cover?
The ACT consists of four required sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science. If you choose to take it, there is an optional Writing portion as well. The exam has a time limit of just under three hours if you do not take the Writing test. The ACT Writing section has an additional 40-minute time limit. In the following paragraphs, we will take a closer look into each section so that you are more familiar with what you need to know for the exam.
Let's begin with the English portion of the test, which has 75 questions and a 45 minute time limit. Because there are so many questions to answer in such a narrow time limit, you will need to move through them quickly and effectively. These questions follow short reading passages that are provided to you. In the questions that follow the passage, you will be asked to revise and edit the text. You will need to pay close attention because you may be asked questions about the passage in its entirety, a group of sentences, or on just a few words of the text.
Next up is the Math section. You will have to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. These questions will measure the mathematical skills you have gained through the years. A minute per question means that you need to work with speed and accuracy, so keep this in mind during your Math test prep.
The Reading section is next, and it consists of 40 questions that must be answered within the 35-minute time limit. In the Reading portion, you will also have passages to read. This time, the questions that follow will address your overall comprehension of the material. This part will measure your ability to think clearly, read a text carefully, and use many sources of information to make educated decisions.
The last of the required sections is Science. In this part of the exam, you will have 40 multiple-choice questions to answer within the 35-minute time limit. You will again be given passages and asked to answer questions based on what you read. The Science section will measure your reasoning, problem-solving, and scientific analysis abilities. In preparation, you will need to study concepts in physics, biology, space and Earth science, and chemistry.
If you need or choose to take it, the optional Writing section includes one topic that you will have 40 minutes to write about. If you take this part of the test, you should be able to write clearly, develop and support your ideas, and use reason. You will need to write logically and clearly, and your essay should reflect a firm grasp of written English.
What are some of the benefits of enrolling in Buffalo ACT courses?
ACT courses are held online, but they mimic the traditional classroom. We know that being a high school student these days isn't easy. With homework, college prep, and extracurricular activities, you will need a course that fits into your schedule. That is why new Buffalo GMAT courses start each week. You will have the choice of two and four-week sessions. Once you find the course that best fits your schedule, you can get started quickly. You will work in a virtual classroom, meaning you can attend class from anywhere that has a stable internet connection.
Your Buffalo ACT class will be conducted by a skilled instructor. You will be able to participate in group work with your classmates that addresses each section of the test, giving you the chance to ask questions as you have them. Additionally, working with other students is great for increasing the amount of information you retain. However, if you need some extra guidance, you can also work with your instructor one-on-one. Joseph: Buffalo ACT course instructor
Hello! I am recent grad from UW-Madison in Mathematics. I love teaching math because I am a firm believer that everyone is capable of understanding math and helping students realize that within themselves is incredibly gratifying. I particularly like teaching calculus because that's where math starts to get fun, students begin developing a type of thinking that I affectionately refer to as mathematical freestyling.
