In addition, Colorado has adopted the UBE, or Uniform Bar Exam, which means that your exam scores can be transferred to other UBE jurisdictions. The UBE consists of three component exams. First up is the Multistate Bar Examination, or MBE. This is a six-hour multiple-choice test that is intended to evaluate your ability to use fundamental legal principles and reasoning in the process of analysis. You'll have to address topics like constitutional law, criminal law, and more. Second, the Multistate Essay Examination, or MEE. Here you'll have to respond to six 30-minute questions in writing, by examining a hypothetical scenario, gleaning relevant legal information, applying your knowledge of law, and composing a well-written response. Third and last is the Multistate Performance Test, or MPT. This section of the UBE will give you two scenarios that imitate real-life situations that a practicing lawyer might face and ask you to respond. So you might have to draft a will, for example, or a letter to a client. You'll have 90 minutes for each scenario, so you'll have to manage your time well.
