We refreshed on double and triple integrals (mainly converting between coordinate systems), then we covered exclusively line integrals. After teaching the student line integrals, I went over proven theorems for Greene's and Surface Integrals with him (as his midterm covers it). Obviously, with the test tomorrow the biggest problem was time and compressing the information into a size that the student could chunk it into his memory. After going through examples and exercises for double and triple integrals, the student was mainly challenged by knowing when to convert between integrals (as a tactic). Likewise, the student had to cope with the information density, especially the line integrals portion, Greene's theorem, and also the surface integrals portion. I left the student with extra practice: 1) copy example problems for line integrals; 2) do some exercises for line integrals; 3) copy examples of Greene's theorem; 4) copy the examples for surface integrals (as last, since most of the test focuses on line integrals).

Both students reported that they continued to learn more about coordinated planes this past week. I gave both practice problems on coordinated planes and they both grasp the subject very well. I assigned the first student practice on converting decimals into fractions as he demonstrated the need for reinforcement in previous sessions. He handled them pretty well, but was unsure of his division at times when reducing fractions. I gave him practice with adding and subtracting integers as this was also an area that needed focus. He handled the problems well. I assigned the second student practice with solving equations with one variable and he handled them well. I then gave him practice problems with converting decimals to fractions and reducing. He had some minor issues with his division and reducing. I next gave him practice problems on solving using substitution. He understood them well. I threw one final problem at him on plotting points on a coordinated plane and he answered the problem perfectly.

I was sent a scanned copy of the student's most recent test from her math class. We went over the questions that were incorrect. We reviewed ratios and how the teacher required her answers to be submitted according to specific guidelines, especially in accordance with the upcoming state standardized exams. We also spent some time on the word problems, since this is a topic that she needs additional support with currently. I noted that her score on this test was approximately 90%, and both the student and her mother want to see her scores improved. They both prefer that she receive strong and high grades. She struggled with one problem that required knowledge regarding percentages and how it applies to discounts for retail items for a sale. I had to explain how discounts are applied to a price for a sale. She said that all retail shopping is done by her mother. I sent her a practice quiz on adding and subtracting fractions with word problems. She was able to sufficiently complete all the word problems. I asked that she submit all of her answers from the quiz by next Sunday in complete sentences, and to submit her paragraph summary of the book she is currently reading by Saturday. I am intending on preparing her for her next upcoming quiz and/or test based on what she has explained is being covered in her math class which is multiplication and division of fractions.

We worked on simplifying radical expressions, which the student did fairly well with, then work a bit on solving radical equations. I suggested she practice radical equations more.
