...I have found that many of them still try to achieve instant gratification through their studies, although that is simply not possible. I aim to avoid teaching "plug-n-chug" methods to solve problems, but help my students understand the underlying concepts so that they can become more versatile and proficient in that subject. This is much more time-consuming and difficult on both the tutor and the student, but it is likewise much more rewarding and lasting.
