My passion for helping students stems from witnessing the transformative power of education and mentorship in my own career journey. Someone once invested in my professional growth, and now I'm driven to pay that forward by helping others advance their careers through mastering human resources concepts and certifications.
I bring over two decades of hands-on HR experience combined with extensive teaching background to my tutoring approach. Currently, I serve as a part-time adjunct instructor a, teaching undergraduate-level HR courses. My full-time role is as Regional HR Manager for a REIT.
Previously, I taught hospitality human resources and provided SHRM/HRCI certification training both in corporate settings and in chapter level. Throughout my career, I've mentored numerous HR professionals at various stages of their careers, from newcomers to experienced practitioners seeking advancement.
My educational foundation includes a Master of Studies in Law with a concentration in Business/Employment Law from Wake Forest University, complemented by specialized certifications including SHRM-SCP, SPHR, and AIGP (Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional). I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, focusing my research on AI Governance and Ethics in Human Resources, which brings a cutting-edge perspective to traditional HR practices.
I specialize in tutoring students pursuing HR academic coursework and professional certifications, including SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, and SPHR. My favorite areas to tutor include Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning and Development, Employment Law, Compensation, Strategic Thinking, and AI applications in HR. These subjects excite me because they represent the evolving landscape of human resources, where traditional people practices meet innovative technologies and strategic business thinking.
My teaching philosophy centers on connecting theoretical concepts to real-world applications. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to match individual learning styles while emphasizing practical scenarios they'll encounter in their careers. I focus on helping students not just memorize content for exams, but truly understand how to apply these principles in their professional roles.
One of my most rewarding tutoring experiences involved mentoring a professional seeking to pivot into HR. Through our work together, they not only successfully entered the field but advanced to a senior organizational role and is now pursuing a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. These success stories fuel my commitment to education and demonstrate the lasting impact of effective mentorship.
