Between 2018-2019 I worked as a tutor in Saint Louis, then went on to graduate school where I assisted and taught several courses. Although I like classroom teaching very much, I miss the one-on-one connections of tutoring. Often there is too great a barrier between students and teachers, and this can intimidate students who truly could benefit from (and deserve) more personal attention. The role of a tutor in my opinion is to help a student achieve their full potential, to serve as a role model to younger students, and to be a source of support outside the classroom.
