Why am I passionate about helping students?
I believe everyone can learn. Tap into your learning style and it can happen! My 17 years of experience as and educator and tutor of learners with disabilities has proven that. In the middle school level, in elementary, or with adults, I've helped tailor instruction so that the "A-ha!" light bulb in the student's mind gets lit up, and a big smile of accomplishment and relief shines brightly. It's so satisfying!
I graduated from Southern Utah University with a bachelors degree in both Mild/Moderate Special Education K-12 and in Spanish Education - Secondary Level. My formal teaching experience includes teaching in public middle and elementary schools for 13 years, as a coordinator of special education services for young adults for 1 year, teaching English to non-native speakers of all ages for 1 year combined, and as a private reading tutor for 4 years. But informally, I have constantly nurtured learning in children as a nanny 2 times, as a church youth teacher for many years, as a mother and step-mother of 7, and as a step-grandmother to 16.
So whether the subject is:
or anything in-between, let's partner for your success! Let's bring fun and relevancy into our sessions to stay engaged. If you're willing to keep trying, together we can explore the ways you learn best and work hard to surpass your goals.
I am especially skilled in helping struggling readers gain reading mastery and I love teaching math.

Don't be surprised if I break out into song occasionally during our lessons. I can't help myself. I love music and singing! My other interests include: theater/movies, travel, psychology, crafts, and FAMILY!
